About Rivian

Rivian is on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. This goes for the emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles we build, and the curious, courageous souls we seek to attract.

As a company, we constantly challenge what's possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.

Role Summary

At Rivian, we're redefining sustainable mobility, and autonomy is central to our next leap forward. We believe high-level autonomy won't just enhance the drive; it'll fundamentally give our customers their time back and transform the utility of their vehicles-a paradigm shift that will drive purchase decisions at scale.

As a Staff Product Manager on the Autonomy team, you'll be at the forefront of this revolution. You'll define the vision, strategy, and execution for automated driving and convenience features, shaping experiences that deliver unparalleled freedom and convenience. This high-visibility role requires empathetic leadership and exceptional communication skills to influence and engage diverse teams across engineering, senior leadership, business strategy, and marketing, driving us toward this groundbreaking future.

Responsibilities

Strategy

  • Develop and champion a clear product vision and strategy for new and existing automated driving and convenience features, aligning with company goals and market opportunities.
  • Effectively communicate product priorities and progress to all cross-functional stakeholders, including executive leadership, engineering, design and marketing.
  • Architect the foundational "Value Narrative" and Unique Selling Proposition (USP) for autonomous features, translating complex technical capabilities into clear, human-centric benefits that drive consumer desire and market differentiation.

Product Definition

  • Define complex scenarios, edge cases, user stories, and end-to-end journeys that ensure a safe, intuitive, and premium experience.
  • Collaborate with Systems engineering, and Cloud and Data teams to analyze vehicle telematics data. You transform raw data on customer utilization and feature behaviors into a roadmap for iterative feature performance and reliability.
  • Leverage deep competitive analysis and a strong understanding of global AD/ADAS regulations (US and EU) to identify upcoming trends and pain points, ensuring Rivian's features are both compliant and market-leading.

Product Execution

  • Establish execution plans for the most complex, ambiguous "0-to-1" initiatives. You secure cross-functional alignment across Engineering, Design, and Project Management, serving as the SME to resolve blockers and make high-stakes trade-offs.
  • Define and track sophisticated KPIs that measure the "Real-World Value" of features.
  • Serve as the technical-marketing bridge, providing the "source of truth" for release notes, owner's guides, and technical publications to ensure internal teams and customers are prepared for every rollout.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's in a relevant field such as Engineering, Computer Science, or Business. MBA is a plus.
  • 7+ years of Product Management experience in automated driving, driver assistance or robotics, or a mix of 3-4 years in engineering and 3-4 years in product management in these fields.
  • Demonstrated leadership in navigating extreme ambiguity to launch 0-to-1 automated driving features in nascent markets, while simultaneously driving the strategic scaling (1 to 1.x) of existing features.
  • Familiarity with global regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills. Proficiency in product/project management tools and agile methodologies.

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of the automated driving stack.
  • Experience navigating high-volume telematics datasets and big-data ecosystems to extract actionable insights into feature utilization, edge-case frequency, and user intervention patterns in autonomous systems.
