The University of Iowa Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking a 50% Research Associate. The Research Associate will support analysis of quality improvement (QI) data to assess and inform statewide impact of initiatives funded through the HRSA Maternal Health Innovation Program, Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health Program, and CDC Perinatal Quality Collaborative program. This position will collaborate with faculty investigators and program partners to prepare analytic datasets, conduct statistical analyses, and contribute to reporting and dissemination of findings.

Key Responsibilities



  • Assist with analysis of quality improvement and program evaluation data related to maternal and child health initiatives
  • Assist with data cleaning, management, and documentation of clinical and administrative datasets
  • Conduct statistical analyses using established analytic plans and contribute to interpretation of results
  • Support preparation of reports, presentations, and manuscripts for internal, statewide, and federal audiences
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including clinicians, public health professionals, and program staff


Required Qualifications



  • Masters degree in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, health services research, or a related field
  • Demonstrated competency in at least one statistical software package (e.g., SAS, R, Stata, SPSS)
  • Foundational knowledge of maternal and child health or perinatal health systems
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail


Desired Qualifications



  • Experience managing and analyzing clinical or quality improvement datasets
  • Familiarity with healthcare quality metrics, maternal health outcomes, or statewide public health initiatives
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary research or quality improvement teams


This is a temporary, non-benefitted position for one year with possibility of renewal.

Compensation starting at $22.33 per hour.
