Position Overview

dormakaba is seeking a Test Lab Intern based in Reamstown, PA (onsite). The Test Lab Intern will be part of our product development organization and will support dormakaba in domestic and international testing, regulations, and certifications, and will perform and report on mechanical, electrical and environmental laboratory tests. The Test Lab Intern will help drive projects and testing requirements to successfully meet project goals and commitments.

HOURLY HIRING RANGE: $21/hr. - $25/hr. (Pay rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)

What you will do
  • Set up, adjust, and operate laboratory equipment and instrumentation
  • Perform complex tests according to prescribed procedures, record test results on standardized forms, and write test reports describing procedures used
  • Maintain and manage Test Lab documentation including test reports, procedures, purchase orders, and calibration records
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, chemicals, and supplies including inventory responsibilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the AVP, ANSI Door Hardware Compliance & Testing
What we require
  • Skills or experience with personal computers, including E-mail, word processing and electronic spreadsheet skills
  • Math skills sufficient to accurately perform mathematical computations associated with testing procedures
  • Experience with and knowledge of hand tool calibration
  • Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree with anticipated graduation date in December 2026 through Spring 2029
  • Ability to work full-time, 40 hours per week for 10-12 weeks (May-August 2026)
What we prefer
  • Skills or experience with pneumatic control systems, hydraulic control systems, electronic programming systems, Lab View programming and PLC programming
  • Knowledge of ANSI/BHMA standards
  • Knowledge of ASTM testing, UL testing, and product packaging testing procedures
  • Knowledge of machining, 3D Printing processes
  • Experience with metal machining tools; 3-axis manual mills, drill presses, sanders, hand tools
