The Area Director of Engineering oversees Engineering operations across multiple properties by leading preventive maintenance programs, monitoring life safety systems and utilities, and ensuring hotel equipment and facilities are maintained in compliance with all corporate/franchise standards and applicable local, state, and federal codes and regulations. This role provides leadership in team oversight, service request prioritization, budget management, vendor coordination, and department administration to help maintain safe, efficient, and well-maintained environments for guests and associates across the portfolio. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Previous experience in hotel Engineering leadership required, with multi-property oversight preferred. Previous experience in a unionized environment preferred. Ability to communicate effectively in English. Self-motivated with a professional and even-tempered demeanor. Maintain a professional appearance and conduct at all times. Must communicate effectively with guests, associates, and leadership teams. Must be willing to pitch in and support operational needs as necessary and be a strong team player. Must be able to identify potential safety hazards and security concerns throughout the hotel and take appropriate action. Must be skilled in multiple trades, including HVAC, electrical, carpentry, drywall repair, painting, plumbing, roofing, and landscaping. Must be able to troubleshoot and repair routine mechanical and electrical issues in hotel systems and equipment. Must be able to lead preventive maintenance efforts, support capital projects, and respond promptly to maintenance-related concerns and emergencies.
