Position Description and Qualifications

The Sol Price School of Public Policy at the University of Southern California invites applications for an assistant professor (tenure-track) in the Department of Public Policy and Management. The Department seeks candidates with research and teaching in public management, policy process, implementation, governance, and institutions.

The individual will have potential for scholarly excellence, and an interest in teaching across the Department's programs. Candidates from all disciplines and fields are encouraged to apply. Candidates should aim to be actively engaged with the public administration and public policy scholarly communities. Candidates should hold a doctoral degree at the time of appointment.

Numerous opportunities for collaboration are available within the Department and the School and its research centers, institutes, and initiatives, including The Bedrosian Center for Governance and the Public Enterprise, the Political Institutions and Political Economy (PIPE) Collaborative, and The Center on Philanthropy and Public Policy, among others.

About the Department of Public Policy and Management

The Department houses some of the core programs at the Price School of Public Policy. It offers two nationally ranked professional masters degrees: MPA and MPP, as well as a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Management and a professional doctorate in Policy, Planning and Development. In addition, it offers an undergraduate degree in public policy. The Department contains approximately 25 faculty spanning a wide array of research interests.

Compensation and Benefits

The University of Southern California offers a competitive salary within an academic environment based on the candidate's experience and accomplishments. The university also offers excellent benefits to employees, which include: health, dental and life insurance; tuition assistance; disability and retirement plans; credit union membership; and participation in cultural and social events, as well as access to athletic and recreational facilities.

The annual base salary range for this position is $125,000-$175,000.

When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.

Note: The core 9-month base salary for this position will be determined by rank and commensurate with experience, skills, education, and training.
