Position Responsibilities

About the Team
Strategic Finance is a newly formed function at Deltek reporting to the VP of Finance. We're the analytical engine for enterprise-level decision-making. We build long-range financial models, lead corporate development, create executive and board materials, and develop the BI infrastructure that powers data-driven decisions across the company.
We sit at the intersection of finance and strategy, working on high-visibility projects that directly influence company direction. Our tools include Excel, Power BI, SQL, Python, and Workday Adaptive Planning.
About the Role
We're looking for a summer intern to join our team for 10 weeks. This is a hands-on role. You won't be shadowing or doing busywork. You'll own real projects that contribute to how leadership thinks about the business.
Depending on your skills and interests, your projects could include:

  • Building and maintaining components of our long-range financial model
  • Developing scenario analyses and sensitivity models for strategic decisions
  • Supporting business case development and ROI frameworks for capital investments
  • Creating materials for board presentations and executive reviews
  • Analyzing SaaS metrics like ARR, churn, retention, and unit economics
  • Supporting M&A and corporate development with research, benchmarking, and deal analysis
  • Building templates and tools that improve how we communicate financial insights to leadership
You'll work directly with the strategic finance leaders and get exposure to how finance and strategy come together at an enterprise software company.

Qualifications

What We're Looking For

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Analytics, or a related field
  • Strong Excel skills. Comfortable with formulas, financial models, pivot tables, and data manipulation.
  • Interest in corporate development, FP&A, and/or strategic finance as a career path
  • Familiarity with SQL or Python is a bonus but not required
  • Analytical mindset. You like solving problems and figuring things out.
  • Clear communicator. Can explain your analysis and why it matters.
  • Self-starter. Comfortable with ambiguity and taking ownership.

What You'll Get
  • Real projects with real impact, not coffee runs
  • Direct mentorship from a senior finance leader
  • Exposure to strategic finance, corporate development, and executive decision-making at a SaaS company
  • Experience building the models and materials that drive company strategy
  • A strong reference and potential path to full-time employment
