Job Summary

The GR Analyst 1 is responsible for assisting with provider enrollment for individual providers, physician groups, and UCDH facilities across government and UCDH-contracted payors, including Medicare, Medi-Cal, CCS, out-of-state Medicaid, Railroad Medicare, and others. Under supervision, this role ensures the timely and accurate submission of enrollment applications in alignment with current federal, state, and departmental requirements.
Key responsibilities include coordinating the preparation and submission of enrollment documentation, resolving enrollment denials in Epic WQs, tracking application progress, and serving as a primary liaison with payors to obtain necessary provider and group identifiers for billing purposes. The analyst will also assist in monitoring suspended charge reports, validate PTAN and group linkage accuracy, obtain necessary documentation for new enrollment approvals, and work to release charges for billing.
This role requires accurate maintenance of provider records in Epic. The analyst is expected to work semi-independently on issues with guidance and supervision, demonstrating analytical skills, initiative in researching issues as they arise, and knowledge of enrollment guidelines to ensure compliance and accuracy across all processes. The analyst is expected to independently carry out a full range of enrollment duties from start to finish with some guidance.

  • Bachelor's degree in related area or equivalent experience and/or training.
  • Previous experience in a relevant field required.
  • Skills in data management and analysis.
  • Billing and accounts receivable experience, analysis experience.
  • Sound decision-making and ability to set and achieve goals.
  • Financial analysis and research skills to report accounts receivable, revenue and billing practices, incidents and outcomes.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments through prioritizing tasks and managing time.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and personal initiative and accept responsibility for decision and actions.
  • Ability to produce high quality deliverables and perform well with supervision and guidance.
  • Ability to recognize the need for and maintain security of confidential information; exercise judgment, tact and discretion in handling sensitive and/or confidential information or situations.
  • Demonstrates highly effective interpersonal, communication, and ability to communicate some technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Interpersonal and communications skills to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Establishes and maintains positive and productive working relationships.
  • Proficient in office automation software (MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Experience in supporting and analyzing billing and accounts receivable processes.
  • Knowledge of billing codes including CPT, HCPCS, REVENUE CODES & ICD10.
  • Knowledge of home infusion billing and reimbursement procedures for Commercial/Managed Care and or Governmental programs
  • Possesses broad job knowledge to independently perform the full range of responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of UCDH accounts receivable systems and online eligibility systems to research and update accounts accordingly.
  • Ability to manage a heavy workload with frequently changing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Detail oriented, with demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to manage time efficiently, prioritize tasks, set schedules, and complete projects in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Assists with insurance reimbursement from third-party billings and government insurance programs. Keeps abreast of the full array of third-party contracts and billing/collections requirements.
  • Demonstrates good verbal and written communication skills; documents and reports clearly and concisely. Conveys instructions, directions, and information appropriately.
  • Applies acquired skills to collaborate in gathering data, identifying trends, and performing financial analysis of technical charging, coding, billing, claims and denials.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment with internal staff in a wide variety of business and clinical areas. Readily assists co-workers.
  • Knowledge of external department resources to effectively respond to inquiries.
  • Maintains appropriate interdepartmental communications.
  • Ensures compliance with internal policy and external agency regulations.
  • Proficiency in common database, spreadsheet and presentation software (eg; Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply and divide whole and decimal numbers, using a calculator.
  • Relies on experience and sound judgment to plan and accomplish goals independently, with creativity in developing enrollment tools, process improvements, electronic enrollment systems.
  • Ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and efficiently manage multiple projects while providing clear, accurate documentation, requesting guidance as necessary.
  • Skilled in planning, setting objectives, developing procedures, implementing systems, and maintaining organized, logical, and readable documentation and records

  • Provider enrollment experience
  • One year of relevant experience preferred.
