Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner - Warren State Hospital

The Department of Human Services (DHS) is seeking a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner to be a part of our clinical services unit at Warren State Hospital. As a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner of Behavioral Health or Psychiatric Mental Health (CRNP-BH or PMH), you will provide advanced psychiatric, behavioral, and mental health treatment to individuals with severe and persistent mental illness at our inpatient psychiatric facility. You will manage psychiatric problems, coordinate care, and collaborate with other care team members. You will also conduct comprehensive assessments of patients and identify factors that may effect mental health such as family, trauma, genetics, substance use, spiritual influences, or environmental factors. This role requires effective communication to maintain positive therapeutic relationships with patients, as well as the ability to apply knowledge of medicine, psychiatric diagnoses, and treatments to promote desired clinical outcomes. In addition, you will prescribe appropriate prescriptions associated with diagnoses, attend medical and psychiatric staff meetings, and participate with discharge planning.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Overtime and travel as needed
• Free parking
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
• New hires may be eligible for a $1,000.00 Retention Incentive Payment, provided you meet all criteria outlined in the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.

QUALIFICATIONS

Special Requirements:

• You must be in possession of a valid certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

Conditions of Employment:

• You must be in possession of a valid CRNP certification in the Adult Psychiatry/MH specialty area as issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

• You must obtain and maintain valid CRNP Prescriptive Authority Approval to prescribe and dispense drugs as issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

Other Requirements:

• PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

• You must pass a background investigation.
• A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
• This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
  • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
