Job Summary (Primary function)

This role is responsible for leading the automation transformation at Incyte, with a primary focus on the design, implementation, and operation of large-scale, fully integrated automated platforms. Responsibilities include overseeing the development of a flagship automation system to support weekly SAR profiling activities, as well as managing the operation of smaller highthroughput screening (HTS) platforms.
The position will implement automationready workflows optimized for efficiency, scalability, and data quality. Leveraging deep automation expertise, the role will maximize assay stacking efficiency by executing multiple assays concurrently through strategic device utilization, protocol sequencing, and scheduling optimization.
Key responsibilities include collaborating with facilities teams to design and build an automation laboratory, partnering with vendors throughout platform specification, delivery, and installation, and assuming full ownership of the integrated automated systems following deployment. Daytoday duties encompass operation and scheduling of large robotic platforms, execution of automated assays, troubleshooting and recovery from robotic or system errors, coordination and oversight of automation contractor staff, and engagement with vendors to manage preventive maintenance and system repairs.
This role works closely with the Compound Management and assay teams to ensure reliable assay execution and consistent delivery of highquality, reproducible data that supports discovery and profiling objectives.

Essential Functions of the Job (Key responsibilities)
* Advanced knowledge of Cellario software and HRB automated platforms
* Attentive monitoring of active robotic system to error recovery during active runs
* Training of staff on system operations
* Ability to learn new technologies and software
* Organization and record keeping
* Excellent Data entry and record keeping skills
* Must be able to perform in a fast-paced environment.
* Effectively communicate project status to project team members

Qualifications (Minimal acceptable level of education, work experience, and competency)

  • BS (or equivalent laboratory experience) in Biology/Chemistry/Life Sciences, compound management/sample logistics experience desirable.
  • 7+ years of automation experience running integrated automated platforms for concurrent assay execution.
  • Working knowledge of technologies commonly used in a laboratory setting including liquid handling automation, plate reading technologies, automated peripheral experience
  • Excellent communication skills and work productively in teams as well as independently.
