ABOUT THE ROLE

Operates and maintains stationary engines and mechanical equipment, compressors, generators, and steam boilers, to provide for utilities such as light, heat and power for refrigeration, air conditioning. Other responsibilities include those of general maintenance (e.g., electrical, plumbing, equipment maintenance and safety testing).

Salary range $36-$42/Hour. Based on experience.

WHAT YOU'LL DO



  • Regularly starts stops and adjusts or regulates equipment as necessary to properly condition the facility.
  • Observes meters and gauges, manipulates valves and machinery to keep readings within the specified requirements.
  • Performs routine maintenance, lubrication, cleaning of boilers and central plant equipment daily.
  • Demonstrates the ability to maintain, operate, and change parameters and messages on the HVAC computer system to maintain proper comfort conditions.
  • Performs preventive maintenance of air conditioning and refrigeration equipment by using established departmental procedures assuring minimized equipment failure.
  • Repairs and maintains valves, showers, toilets, water heaters and other plumbing fixtures, and opens clogged drains.
  • Repairs, replaces, and tests electrical circuits, equipment and appliances using appropriate tools and testing instruments.
  • Performs a variety of general maintenance, repair, overhaul, and construction duties.
  • Inspects and performs repairs on Life Safety components (i.e., fire/smoke wall, doors, exit corridors, exit stairs, & chute doors).
  • Regularly removes water samples and applies chemical tests to determine water make-up and properly apply chemicals as needed.
  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures and meets all applicable codes.


WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

The ideal candidate is a skilled and safety-focused maintenance professional with experience operating and maintaining HVAC, boiler, and other mechanical systems. They are knowledgeable in preventive maintenance, basic electrical and plumbing repairs, and facility equipment troubleshooting. This individual is dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining safe, efficient operations in a fast-paced environment.

IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE



  • High School diploma or GED
  • Two years minimum experience in maintenance, operation, and repair of building mechanical systems; including but not limited to boilers, liquid chillers, pumps, fans and air handling units, heat exchangers, and ancillary equipment.
  • Knowledge with Building Automation Systems and Computerized Maintenance Management systems
  • Strong communication skills: ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Valid state driver's license.
  • Technical degree/certificate in a facility related field.
  • Stationary Engineer, Boiler Operator Class A & B, CFC and/or Journeyman certification preferred.


WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS



  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 75 lbs occasionally and frequent bending, climbing, kneeling, twisting, squatting, crawling, and repetitive hand/arm use
  • Capable of standing, walking, and moving throughout the facility for extended shifts of up to 12 hours
  • Comfortable working at heights using ladders, scaffolding, swing stages, and man lifts frequently
  • Ability to work safely in a production or field environment with moderate to high exposure to safety risks and hazards
  • Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions, including wet, hot, humid, and cold weather, and outdoors (Depending on location)
  • Ability to wear all required PPE, including but not limited to safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, high visibility vest, hard hat, and other PPE as required by the task, department, or work area.
