The Electrician plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of electrical systems. This role is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. This position works with a variety of tools and equipment to diagnose electrical problems, make repairs, and ensure compliance with electrical codes and regulations. Working under limited supervision, the role is expected to upkeep electrical systems, fire alarm systems, paging systems, CATV systems and nurse call systems.
Essential Job Function
- Installs, maintains, and repairs electrical systems, including wiring, switches, outlets, and lighting fixtures.
- Identifies and troubleshoots electrical issues, including analyzing circuitry, testing electrical components, and determining the root cause of malfunctions.
- Ensures compliance with electrical codes and regulations thorough extensive knowledge of local, state, and national electrical codes and regulations.
- Inspects and maintains electrical systems to ensure their proper functioning.
- Troubleshoots both high and low voltage electrical systems.
- Understands a wide range of tools and equipment specific to the electrical trade, including hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and specialized instruments for measuring voltage, current, and resistance.
- Works effectively as part of a team, collaborating with other electricians, contractors, and maintenance personnel.
- Keeps accurate records of all electrical work performed, including maintenance tasks, repairs, and installations.
- Seeks opportunities for professional development and stays informed about new technologies, techniques, and regulations in the electrical field.
- Adheres to safety protocols, following established safety procedures and guidelines, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, using lockout/tagout procedures, and ensuring that electrical systems are de-energized before working on them.

Education
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalentPreferred: Associate's degree in electrical or electronics
Experience
- Required: 5 years of industrial commercial electrical experience, preferably in a healthcare, hospitality, or education setting
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Preferred: Electrical Contractor's license
