The School of Theatre, Film & Television at the University of Arizona seeks an academic year appointment, Visiting Assistant Professor in Scene Design (non tenure eligible) for the 2026-27 academic year. | Duties & Responsibilities |
- Teach
courses and direct production studies to undergraduate and graduate students in some of the following topics:
- Scenic design
- Period styles
- Drafting
- Props
- Instruct and supervise scenic design and technology students
for all productions in the theatre programs. - Demonstrate comprehensive education practices in the design program through teaching,
mentoring, and related activities. - Collaborate
in the evolution of design courses to reflect a wide range of contemporary entertainment trends. - Direct
MFA thesis and BFA capstone projects for scenic design and technology students. - Design at least one theatre production.

| Minimum Qualifications |
- BS or BA degree
and 3 years of professional experience are required. - Professional
experience must include experience as a scenic designer, CAD drafting, model making, painting, drawing and digital imaging.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Master's of Fine Arts.
- University-level teaching experience in scenic design or related skills beyond graduate school preferred.
- Experience with projection design and designing in technologically-enhanced multi-media environments such as: rock shows, film and television production, XR settings, and immersive installations.
