The Setty Lab at the Fred Hutch is a computational biology lab focused on developing computational tools and methods for analysis of high throughput single-cell genomics data. We work in extensive collaborative partnerships with bench scientists to tackle questions related to cellular differentiation, lineage decisions, regulatory mechanisms, tumorigenesis and emergence of metastasis. Responsible for performing standard and investigative laboratory work in support of scientific research by performing bench-level experiments, operating analytical instruments, recovering, compiling and verifying the accuracy of research data; performing calculations; preparing charts, graphs and summaries.



Responsibilities

    Identify methodological problems in research protocol and implement modifications to optimize experimental results.
  • Prepare and present written or oral progress reports concerning studies including assembly, organization, and interpretation of data.
  • Assist in the design of experiments; may be responsible for the performance of individual research projects.
  • Conduct literature reviews to assist in determining most suitable methods to be used in research.
  • Assist in publication of results by proofreading, editing, and contributing ideas.
  • May perform statistical analyses, write computer programs, or manage research data base.


Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in related scientific field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2 years of experience working in a lab outside of school coursework.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in analysis of single-cell genomics data.
  • Experience in working with high-performance compute environment.
  • Experience in using source code management (e.g.: Git, GitHub).
  • Working knowledge of machine learning.
  • Experience in working with high throughput sequencing data.
  • Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Python, R, Matlab (preferably Python).
  • Ability to learn new tools and content quickly and independently.
  • Strong communication skills.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $27.01 to $38.45 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.

Although Fred Hutch is not sponsoring most H-1B visas at this time, candidates who already hold an H-1B sponsored by another organization and are currently in the U.S. may be eligible for this position.
