Job Summary

The Senior HVAC Mechanic performs work in the maintenance, repair, installation, and upkeep of a variety of equipment to include, but not limited to; heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, chillers, boilers and domestic water systems. Aides in the training of junior HVAC mechanics through hands on and written transition of knowledge. Identify and executes HVAC projects internally.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs and coordinates installation, maintenance, repair and upkeep in the central utility plant and hospital HVAC systems. (25%)
  • Completes small to medium level mechanical or plumbing projects in house. (25%)
  • Assists in maintenance and repair in a variety of skilled trades i.e. HVAC, MEP, Med Gas and coordinates with other trades to complete work. (20%)
  • Partners with Construction on projects in the plant and on HVAC projects Throughout DH to provide optimal finished product. (10%)
  • Identifies training and staff development needs of employees and ensures that HVAC Supervisor and Lead have all the pertinent info to move forward. (10%)
  • Maintains records and provide reports on materials, labor and equipment costs. (10%)

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED High school graduation or GED required

Work Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in the HVAC trade required

Licenses:

  • DLR-Colorado Driver's License Class R - DMV - Department of Motor Vehicles required
  • HV-Journeyman - Tradesmen International required or
  • PLUMBERJM-Plumber - Journeyman - Tradesmen International required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to read, interpret and communicate blueprints and drawings.
  • Knowledge of National Fire Protection Association, The Joint Commission Standards, Environmental Protection Agency in regard to HVAC, Central Plant, and Life Support Equipment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate.
  • Knowledge of Building Automation Systems and how to maximize efficiency through them. (Preferred)
