Supervises staff involved in providing clinical patient care. Assists in ensuring the quality of patient care delivery in a specific patient care area and serves as a role model for professional nursing practice. Assists with the administration and management of personnel, fiscal, and material resources. May assume full responsibility for the unit in delegated areas and in the absence of the manager. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $221,500 - $241,800 (Annual Rate).
Required Qualifications
Three years progressive nursing leadership experience with patient care clinical standards and care delivery, systems, external regulations and internal policies. Knowledge to manage disaster incidents, critical events and ability to solve problems with critical thinking skills.Two years recent RN experience in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit including charge nurse responsibilitiesStrong interpersonal skills to create and maintain a climate for effective communication and collaborative decision makingBachelor's Degree in NursingActive Registered Nurse licensure in the State of CaliforniaActive American Heart Association BLS CertificationActive American Heart Association PALS CertificationRegistered Nurse in the State of CaliforniaStrong leadership, fiscal and operations management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, management and staff from all disciplines. Ability to create and maintain a goal-oriented climate of teamwork, collaboration and consistent achievement of objectives.Knowledge of relevant healthcare information technology, critical care unit operations and patient care workflows and processesStrong written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to train and mentor subordinates, to convey complex clinical and technical information in a clear and concise manner. Prepares and presents a variety of reports, documentation, analyses, and project proposals.Demonstrated knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, as well as related legislative, accreditation, licensing and compliance environments.


Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree preferred.

Required Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of recent RN experience in Pediatrics and/or Critical Care Unit (CCU)
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing
  • Evidence of recent and progressive leadership experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster effective communication and collaborative decision-making
  • Knowledge of healthcare information technology, critical care unit operations, and patient care workflows and processes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex clinical and technical information
  • Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory requirements, including legislative, accreditation, licensing, and compliance standards

Licensure and Certifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of California
  • Active American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Active American Heart Association (AHA) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Charge nurse experience
  • Three (3) years of progressive nursing leadership/management experience, including knowledge of patient care clinical standards, care delivery systems, external regulations, and internal policies
  • Knowledge of disaster management and critical event response; strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong leadership, fiscal, and operations management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, management, and interdisciplinary staff
  • Ability to create and maintain a goal-oriented environment that promotes teamwork, collaboration, and achievement of objectives
  • Experience training and mentoring staff, and preparing and presenting reports, documentation, analyses, and project proposals
  • Master's degree in Nursing
