This position will be required to be onsite at the UCSF locations for the first 3-6 months for training/orientation and then be required to come onsite one week per month. Under the technological supervision of the Chief Dosimetrist, the direct supervision of the Clinical Chief of Physics, and professional direction of the Clinical Faculty, the Dosimetrist designs external beam treatment plans for patient treatments by using a treatment planning computer, computer support system, and computer quality improvement verifications and others with quarterly rotations to all radiation oncology sites (Mt Zion, Parnassus and Mission Bay). The Dosimetrist accepts assignments by the Chief Dosimetrist, plans and carries out the successive steps and handles problems and deviations in the work assignment in accordance with instructions, policies, previous training, or accepted published practices.
Required Qualifications
Staff Dosimetrist qualifications:BS in applied scienceSix (6) months work experience as a radiation therapist utilizing radiation technological skills reflecting the knowledge of patient treatments on a linear accelerator with supporting computerized record and verify systems.CMD board eligibleSenior Dosimetrist qualifications:BS in applied scienceFive years work experience as a dosimetrist reflecting technological skills reflecting the knowledge of patient treatments on a linear accelerator with supporting computerized record and verify systems are requiredCMD board eligible

Salary Information


The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.


Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

  • CMD board eligible

Senior Dosimetrist requirement qualifications:

  • BS in applied science
  • Five years work experience as a dosimetrist reflecting technological skills reflecting the knowledge of patient treatments on a linear accelerator with supporting computerized record and verify systems are required
  • CMD board eligible

Staff/ Sr Preferred qualifications:

ARRT registry, satisfactory completion of formal dosimetry training
