As the Vice President of Data & BI Platforms within Data & Analytics (D&A), you will lead the strategic vision, design and implementation of enterprise data and AI capabilities that transform how Thomson Reuters manages, governs and derives value from its data assets. You will be accountable for driving a data-driven culture across Thomson Reuters, partnering with all parts of the business to uplift capabilities in data stewardship, data quality, AI governance, and data risk management.

This senior leadership role demands strong technical depth, systems thinking and an outcome-driven approach, applying AI across analytics, insights and automation use cases, all aligned with Thomson Reuters' strategic objectives. You will have accountability for Thomson Reuters data and BI platform teams, guiding global data teams in delivering scalable, high-quality and AI-ready data solutions that embed intelligence, reasoning, and automation into core Thomson Reuters workflows and data products, driving measurable business outcomes.

About the Role

As the VP, Data & BI Platforms you will report into the Head of Data & Analytics (Chief Data Officer) and will lead a global team of 40 people. In this role, you will:

  • Develop and execute Data and BI platforms data and AI strategy, ensuring alignment with Thomson Reuters' overall business objectives.
  • Build data and AI systems that leverage TR's data and analytics foundations to generate new intelligence, insights, and automation capabilities.
  • Explore emerging technologies and evaluate their applicability to solve complex, enterprise-wide challenges.
  • Provide strategic direction for end-to-end data workflows, including data processing, enrichment, integration and the foundational pipelines that enable AI and analytics use cases.
  • Lead the development of scalable data pipelines that extract, transform and enrich enterprise data, ensuring they are fit for purpose across both analytics and AI applications.
  • Implement AI-enabled solutions for tasks including classification, extraction, summarization, linking, reconciliation, anomaly detection and workflow automation.
  • Deliver intelligent, workflow-driven solutions that support diverse internal teams across analytics, operations, finance and product.
  • Collaborate closely with research scientists to operationalize new techniques and rigorously evaluate model quality and performance.
  • Partner with Data, Cloud, Product and AI Platform teams to ensure solutions are scalable, secure and effectively integrated.
  • Manage resource planning and influence budget decisions to optimize team effectiveness and project delivery.
  • Represent Thomson Reuters as a thought leader in data management, governance and AI adoption through relevant industry forums, conferences and publications (optional but encouraged).
  • Design, implement, operate and evolve the TR Data Stewardship by implementing processes and tools, training and operating models.
  • Establish pragmatic, scalable data governance frameworks that build trust in data quality, reduce data risk and deliver measurable value to customers, colleagues and shareholders.
  • Define and embed enterprise standards for data quality measurement, metadata management and data lineage and provenance, working in close partnership with the D&A Data Management, BI and Data Platform teams to operationalise these practices at scale.
  • Drive automation of Data Stewardship and AI Governance, partnering with BI, Data Platform and AI Platform teams to reduce manual overhead, increase consistency and scale governance capabilities.
  • Lead and develop a globally distributed team through managers, driving talent assessments, performance differentiation and fostering an inclusive, high-performance culture across all levels.
  • Influence and align senior leadership and key stakeholders, translating complex data topics into compelling narratives around strategy, progress, risks and business impact.
About You

You are a great fit for this role if you:

  • Have demonstrated experience leading data and BI platform teams and enabling AI capabilities at scale.
  • Have experience building AI/ML systems and integrating them into large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Are adept at working with complex and varied datasets, building AI layers on top of data products, pipelines and semantic models.
  • Have experience with LLMs, agentic systems, retrieval, embeddings and automated reasoning.
  • Demonstrate proven success in leading large, geographically distributed engineering teams through managers, fostering high performance and collaboration.
  • Exhibit strong strategic decision-making skills, shaping AI engineering strategies and policies aligned with Thomson Reuters' broader business goals.

Location

You will work in a hybrid environment, spending a minimum of three days a week in office and will ideally be based in one of our hub locations in New York City, Minneapolis, Dallas, Toronto, Zug, Bangalore, Hyderabad or Mexico City.

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range varies across locations. Eligible office location(s) for this role include one or more of the following: New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and/or Irvine, CA; McLean, VA; Washington, DC. The base compensation range for the role in any of those locations is $228,000 USD - $424,000 USD. For any eligible US locations, unless otherwise noted, the base compensation range for this role is $198,200 USD - $368,000 USD. Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs. This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance.
