What to Expect
Tesla's Supplier Industrialization team is responsible for critical component development and qualification activities at suppliers. This role will develop, qualify, scale up and optimize manufacturing and quality system procedures for Battery cell manufacturing. In this role, you will work closely with many organizations both internal and external to Tesla, taking new battery cell designs from initial concept to mass production and sustaining. The battery cell is a critical component in Tesla vehicles and energy storage systems. This role will have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to our products. The work environment is demanding, fast-paced and incredibly exciting. What You'll Do
  • Develop, qualify, and oversee battery cell manufacturing process end to end (from upstream mixing & electrode manufacturing to downstream finished good cell testing and shipping)
  • Drive the production ramp and solve bottlenecks with the suppliers to ensure timely & adequate delivery to Tesla factories to support the build plan
  • Responsible for driving TQP (Tesla Qualification Process) for production launch readiness & ensure products from manufacturing lines meet cell design requirements
  • Understand the measurement system and validate measurement system performance at the suppliers
  • Leads FAs and implement CAs for battery cell inline, OQC, performance and next customer IQC failures
  • Validate supply plan provided by suppliers by analyzing design capacity and OEE
  • Accountable for supplier audits to ensure their lines meet performance, quality, and delivery expectations
  • Validate supplier corrective actions involving design and/or process changes to ensure they are robust, sustainable, and implemented for similar potential concerns across manufacturing lines and/or suppliers

What You'll Bring
  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Mechanical, or other related engineering disciplines or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of experience in li-ion cell process or manufacturing (Pouch/Prismatic/Cylindrical cells)
  • Demonstrated experience in at least two out of the three areas: cell manufacturing processes, cell quality inspection, production & OEE improvement
  • Experience in manufacturing documents (control plan, PFMEA, MSOP) and reviewing capability analysis (Cp/Cpk, MSA)
  • Excellent team building skills in dealing with suppliers, peers, and cross functional teams
  • Strong technical writing ability to explain complex issues in a concise and plain manner
  • Ability to travel at short notice domestically & international up to 25%
  • Experience in high volume manufacturing is highly preferred

      Expected Compensation
      $108,000 - $240,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

      Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
