ChristianaCare is hiring a full time Access Coordinator II for our Surgical Oncology Department at our Helen F. Graham Center in Newark, DE.

This position coordinates patient care across the practice, referring providers, hospital and specialty teams, and patients to ensure a timely and positive care experience. Responsibilities include obtaining and tracking referrals, verifying and documenting insurance coverage, coordinating financial support as needed. The role also manages ongoing communication through Vocera and the Patient Portal and maintains effective coordination with patients, provider offices, and hospital staff.

This position sits in the front desk at the practice and is patient facing.

Work Schedule:

  • Monday-Friday, 8:00am- 4:30pm

Duties / Responsibilities: This role supports coordinated patient care by working closely with referring physicians, hospital providers, and multidisciplinary care teams. Responsibilities include managing new and urgent patient workflows, verifying insurance coverage, coordinating referrals and authorizations, scheduling appointments and followup care, and supporting patient communication through phone, patient portal, and Vocera. The position also performs frontoffice administrative duties such as checking patients in and out, answering phones, maintaining accurate documentation in EMR systems, and supporting daily operational and quality activities to ensure an efficient and positive patient experience. Position Qualifications:
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • 2 years' experience in a medical office practice setting is required; 3 years' experience is preferred
