DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will engage in an extensive training program designed to teach you how to operate highway equipment and perform essential maintenance tasks that keep our roads safe and reliable. You will learn about safety measures, proper equipment usage, and environmental responsibilities while working alongside experienced team members. Beyond operating machinery, the job will help you develop skills in various manual labor tasks using both powered and hand tools, including shovels, rakes, chainsaws, jackhammers, tampers, mowers, trimmers, and patching tools. Trainees will be taught how to choose the right tools for each job, reduce wear and tear, and report any missing or damaged equipment. This practical experience will equip you to effectively support maintenance crews and prepare for a career as a fully qualified equipment operator.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
  • This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class A or B Commercial Driver Learner's Permit on the first day of work.
  • This position requires possession of a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations on the first day of work.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
