The OEM division is responsible for the County's overall efforts to coordinate and facilitate the plans for, response to, and recovery from, significant events that impact the County. Job Summary

Under the general direction of an Assistant Coordinator, this position is responsible for a broad portfolio of emergency management projects within the Planning and Operations Divisions. The position is responsible for developing threat and hazard plans, coordinating and developing identified training and exercise needs to support planning initiatives and operational activities, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, representing Loudoun County on a variety of workgroups, and monitoring and documenting compliance with local, state, and federal statutes.
We are seeking a detail-oriented team player who will:
- Document and track compliance metrics associated with local, state, and federal statutes;
- Coordinate identified training needs to support planning initiatives and operational activities.
- Assist with the coordination of operational equipment and provide related project-level support.
- Serve as a project manager for a diverse portfolio of emergency management initiatives.
- Regularly facilitate and convene meetings with a wide-ranging group of stakeholders.
- Conduct research, develop, and maintain a variety of emergency management plans and procedures.
- Represent Loudoun County on a variety of regional workgroups.
- And participate in other regional initiatives, as directed.
The successful candidate will possess the following skills and abilities:
- Knowledge of emergency management principles, theories, and practices.
- Ability to efficiently manage projects.
- Ability to effectively communicate.
- Ability to collaborate with diverse groups on complex projects.
- Willingness to assist on a variety of projects and initiatives that span the emergency management spectrum.
Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications
-
Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, or a related field; three (3) years of related work experience in emergency management, disaster mitigation, preparedness, and/or emergency response/recovery activities; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Successful candidates will undergo background checks as required.
Special Requirements: Certifications required within six months of hire date include: Introduction to the Incident Command System (IS 100), Incident Command System for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents (IS 200), National Incident Management System (IS 700), National Response Framework (IS 800), and Principles of Emergency Management (IS 230). This position is expected to fill roles in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) during activations. EOC Staff work 12-hour shifts and may be day or night work, holidays, and/or weekends as necessary.
