Play an integral role in shaping how construction technical services are delivered across complex, large-scale projects. This is a leadership position that sits at the intersection of engineering, construction execution, and operational excellence-ensuring that technical standards, systems, and people are aligned to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality outcomes.

You will be responsible for leading construction technical services across multiple projects or programs, influencing strategy, and ensuring alignment with broader organizational objectives while driving continuous improvement across systems, tools, and processes.

Purpose of the role

The Senior Manager, Construction Technical Services is accountable for aligning construction technical capabilities with project and business objectives. You will lead teams, establish frameworks, and drive technical consistency across projects, ensuring that execution is efficient, compliant, and scalable.

This role exists to strengthen the integration between engineering design intent and field execution-ensuring that construction teams are equipped with the right technical guidance, systems, and leadership to deliver complex projects safely, on time, and within budget.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage construction technical services across multiple projects, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy and project delivery objectives
  • Develop and implement technical standards, procedures, and best practices that enhance construction execution and project outcomes
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight across disciplines, ensuring constructability, quality, and compliance with applicable codes and standards
  • Influence and support project teams in resolving complex technical challenges, applying sound engineering judgment and practical field experience
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across systems, processes, and tools to enhance efficiency, consistency, and scalability
  • Collaborate with engineering, project management, and field leadership to ensure seamless integration between design and construction execution
  • Oversee resource planning, capability development, and succession planning within the construction technical services function
  • Manage and mentor teams directly or through subordinate leaders, fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new systems, digital tools, and workflows that support construction excellence
  • Communicate complex technical concepts, strategies, and recommendations to senior leadership and key stakeholders, influencing decision-making at a high level
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements across all projects and activities

What you'll bring to the role

  • A university degree in engineering, construction management, or a related discipline-or equivalent industry experience
  • Typically 15+ years of progressive experience in construction, engineering, or project delivery, including leadership roles on large-scale projects
  • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing technical functions across multiple projects or programs
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, constructability, and field execution within the energy, chemicals, or resources sectors
  • Proven ability to influence outcomes within complex organizational structures and across multiple stakeholders
  • Advanced problem-solving capability, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and develop practical, executable solutions
  • Experience developing and implementing systems, processes, and tools that improve project delivery performance
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of how technical decisions impact cost, schedule, and risk
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present and influence at senior leadership levels
  • A collaborative leadership style that promotes accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
  • Ability to operate effectively in a dynamic environment, balancing strategic priorities with operational execution
