Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Edit/Media Specialist II (Multimedia Content) for the Office of University News and Media Relations.   • Creates social media content for Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey.
  • Produces high-quality multimedia content, including video, photography, and graphic design, for the university's social media channels and digital platforms.
  • Collaborates closely with colleagues across University Communications and Marketing, as well as internal and external stakeholders, to ensure content aligns with the university's brand, voice, and strategic objectives.
  • Contributes to the day-to-day management, scheduling, and monitoring of social media channels, including providing direction and mentorship to student employees and interns supporting social media initiatives.

Qualifications






Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in digital marketing, social media management, video production, English, journalism, communication, new media or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2 years of professional experience in videography and editing, ideally for a brand or creative agency, creating and monitoring social media content for social media channels including, but not limited to, Facebook, X/Twitter, Instagram, Tik Tok and LinkedIn.

Certifications/Licenses
  • A valid driver's license would be required for this position.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience working on and coordinating pre-production and post-production, including color, sound, and graphics.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with an eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • A creative and strategic mindset with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong creative instincts paired with a willingness to take direction and iterate based on feedback.
  • Experience managing creative team members.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A standout portfolio demonstrating professional-quality video and photo work, particularly social media content.
  • Deep expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, and Lightroom.
  • Proven experience producing content specifically for social media platforms
  • Experience with social media management and analytics platforms preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint required
  • Experience with project management systems, including Asana, or similar.
  • Experience with print and digital advertising and news writing.

Equipment Utilized

  • Sony mirrorless, BlackMagic Pocket Cinema Cameras, Adobe Creative Suite, Hootsuite, content management systems, project management systems, Asana.


Physical Demands and Work Environment
