Job Description:
Summary:
The Durability Travel Instrumentation Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and field-troubleshooting of vehicle instrumentation during long-term RLDA programs. This role is critical to ensuring the accuracy and integrity of physical test data used to validate product life and performance under diverse environmental and load conditions.

Responsibilities
*Instrumentation Setup and Maintenance: Install, wire, and configure a variety of sensors-including strain gauges, accelerometers, thermocouples, and WFTs-based on engineering schematics.
*Data Acquisition (DAQ): Set up, program, and operate a DAQ systems for a public road load data acquisition
*Vehicle Data Interface: Setup and record onboard vehicle data (e.g. CAN) and integrate it with external sensors.
*Field Troubleshooting: Rapidly diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical issues related to instrumentation and wiring to minimize testing downtime.
*Logistics & Driving: Work collaboratively to safely navigate and drive test vehicles across the country while actively logging data.
*Documentation: Maintain accurate records of instrumentation deployment, wiring schematics, calibration certificates, and troubleshooting logs.

Qualifications
*2+ years working with instrumentation and DAQ systems in R&D or testing environments (Automotive, Aerospace, or Heavy Equipment preferred).
*Strong knowledge of electrical principles and experience with soldering, wiring, and harness fabrication.
*Extremely proficiency in installing and troubleshooting common physical sensors (e.g., strain gauges, accelerometers) and experience with weatherproofing and ruggedizing sensor installations for long-term exposure
*Experience with common commercial data acquisition hardware and software; Preferred experience with Mars Labs
*Familiarity with Electric Vehicle (EV) safety protocols and high-voltage systems.
*Proven track record of problem-solving and independent root cause analysis and the ability to work effectively in small team environments.
*Must possess a clean driving record.
