Overview

Element Materials Technology has an opportunity for a Senior Accountant to join our growing finance team. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional with a strong corporate accounting background who thrives in a fast-paced, global environment and takes ownership of financial accuracy, reporting, and close processes.

This position plays a key role in ensuring the integrity of financial results through full-cycle accounting, month-end close, and balance sheet ownership, while partnering cross-functionally across the business.

This is a hybrid position, must be able to go into the office 3 days a week.

Responsibilities

    Own and execute key components of the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Prepare and post complex journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, payroll, fixed assets, and lease accounting
  • Perform and review detailed balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving variances
  • Analyze financial results and provide clear explanations of fluctuations and trends to leadership
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (FP&A, operations, HR) to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Support internal and external audits, including preparation of schedules and responding to auditor inquiries
  • Research and resolve complex or unusual accounting transactions in accordance with GAAP
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and efficiency within the close cycle


Skills / Qualifications

  • What We're Looking For
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (REQUIRED) - candidates without a degree in Accounting will not be considered
    • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong emphasis on corporate/general ledger accounting (not solely AP/AR)
    • Demonstrated experience with month-end close, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations
    • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting principles
    • Experience with payroll, fixed assets, and lease accounting preferred
    • Proven ability to analyze data, identify issues, and provide solutions
    Key Skills & Competencies
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data analysis, reconciliations, reporting)
    • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
    • Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment and ownership
    • Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly
    • High level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability
