This is a/an 83.3% full-time equivalency (FTE) job with months off. The number of months off will be determined by the position's FTE percentage. The timing of months off will be set to meet the needs of the unit and the essential duties of the position. POSITION SPECIFICS

Penn State Behrend, located in Erie, Pennsylvania, is seeking qualified candidates to apply for an Athletic Trainer. The Athletic trainer serves as a member of the Athletics Department. Penn State Behrend is a member of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) and has 24 DIII varsity sports programs.

Penn State Behrend's athletic facilities are expanding and updating to keep pace with the growth and success of our intercollegiate athletics programs. We have a lighted, artificial-turf field soccer and lacrosse complex; an eight-lane composite track with a separate area for field events in our track and field complex; and our baseball and softball complex has two fields, each with irrigation, in-ground dugouts, bullpens, and batting cages. Our Junker Center has three all-purpose courts, seating for 1,600, and eight-lane swimming pool, running track, jumping pits, aerobics room, and strength-training room. Penn State Behrend also sits on the edge of Wintergreen Gorge, an 11,00-year-old chasm that's a spectacular backdrop for a run or a hike. Or head north instead; a six-mile paved trail connects campus to Erie's downtown and lakefront. On-campus sand volleyball courts and multiple intramural fields are available for all students to use.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide athletic training services including prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses within the scope of professional preparation and certification to students at Penn State Behrend.

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive injury prevention and performance enhancement programs

  • Determine appropriate treatment and rehabilitation plans and evaluate student-athlete readiness for participation, including pre-participation clearance and post-injury/illness return-to-play decisions

  • Deliver emergency care and first response for athletic-related injuries and medical conditions

  • Assist in the organization and ongoing review of programs designed to optimize athletic performance and reduce injury risk

  • Acts as a liaison between external health care providers, doctors, and other medical professionals.

  • Lead departmental compliance efforts for AED/CPR training and organization.

  • Plan and develop all departmental goals and objectives, assuring commitment to inclusion and belonging in all aspects of student engagement with athletics, gender equity, and successful athletics experiences by all students.

  • Promote a healthy and safe environment for all student-athletes

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's Degree preferred

  • Required Certifications, Registrations, or Licensure: BOC Certified Athletic Trainer; PA State Licensed Athletic Trainer; Certified Health Care Provider (CPR/AED)

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

If filled as Athletic Trainer - Intermediate Professional, this position requires: Bachelor's Degree 1+ years of relevant experience Required Certifications: Licensed Athletic Trainer - Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) - National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification - American Red Cross, American Heart Association or other accredited organization Automated External Defibrillator(AED) Certification - American Red Cross, American Heart Association or other accredited organization If filled as Athletic Trainer - Advanced Professional, this position requires: Master's Degree 3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: Automated External Defibrillator(AED) Certification - American Red Cross, American Heart Association or other accredited organization Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification - American Red Cross, American Heart Association or other accredited organization Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) - National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification Licensed Athletic Trainer - Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $42,100.00 - $67,300.00.
