Supply Chain & Customer Planning Intern

Fike Corporation, a rapidly growing international manufacturer of pressure relief, explosion protection, fire suppression and detection equipment, has an opportunity for a Supply Chain & Customer Planning Intern position. Fike is a privately held business located in Blue Springs, MO with over 400 employees locally & over 1,200 employees worldwide.



Job Summary:

Supports Demand & Fulfillment activities across Purchasing, Planning, and Customer Experience by helping align supply with customer and distributor demand. Assists in coordinating suppliers, materials, and order execution to enable accurate commitments, reliable fulfillment, and overall support of sales through effective delivery to the customer.



Primary Responsibilities:


  1. Supports coordination between Sales, Operations, Planning, and Purchasing to align order priorities, material availability, and customer delivery expectations.
  2. Monitors open orders, backlog, and customer promise dates, helping ensure commitments are clearly communicated and met.
  3. Assists Sales by maintaining accurate order status, delivery dates, and system data so teams can confidently communicate with customers.
  4. Identifies potential material shortages, supplier delays, or supply constraints and helps escalate issues early to protect customer commitments.
  5. Supports quoting activities, new item setup, and purchase order execution to align supply capabilities with sales demand.
  6. Assists in expediting materials and tracking supplier deliveries to support on-time fulfillment of sales orders.
  7. Participates in cross-functional order review and fulfillment meetings to track progress on key customer orders and priorities.
  8. Assists with reporting and analysis of order fulfillment performance, including tracking promise dates versus actual shipments.
  9. Supports communication between Sales, Supply Chain, and suppliers to ensure alignment on priorities and customer expectations.
  10. Helps coordinate returns, discrepancies, or nonconforming materials to minimize disruptions to customer orders.
  11. Contributes to projects focused on improving sales visibility to order status, demand alignment, and overall customer fulfillment performance.
  12. Performs work in accordance with Fike Corporation policies and procedures and maintains confidentiality of all information processed.

Performs related duties as assigned. Regular and consistent attendance is required.



Essential Skills:

Analytical thinking, attention to detail, problem solving, communication, organization, and ability to work cross-functionally. Basic proficiency in computer applications and data management. Ability to understand and support processes that connect supply, demand, and customer fulfillment.



Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the environment is general office work and the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, hear, see, stand, sit, and use hands.



Job Qualifications:

REQUIRED:High School Diploma or GED. Interest in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or related field. Strong communication and organizational skills. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.



PREFERRED:Coursework or experience in Supply Chain, Business, or Operations. Familiarity with Google Suite.



Compensation:The pay range for this position is $20 to $23 per hour. May increase depending on the level of experience of the candidate.
