Position Summary
The Application Analyst Assistant provides entry-level technical support for enterprise and departmental applications. This role performs routine, well-defined tasks such as user access provisioning, basic system updates, and issue triage under direct supervision. The analyst follows established procedures and relies on guidance to complete assignments while developing foundational technical skills.
Work is closely supervised, with regular direction and detailed instructions provided for daily activities and new assignments. The role may require occasional after-hours or weekend support due to the critical nature of production systems.

  • Basic understanding of technical concepts related to application support
  • Exposure to SQL or willingness to learn foundational querying skills
  • Ability to follow instructions and apply standard procedures

Administer the integration of batch processing tool with other downstream systems

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot batch processing issues
  • Work with vendors on enhancements and new products
  • Coordinate with vendor on upgrades to subsystems
  • Develop and maintain Unix shell scripts, and SQL packages
  • Diagnose and Troubleshoot job and process flow issues
  • Diagnose and Troubleshoot server connection issues with external servers
  • Coordinate promotion of production and pre-production jobs and process flows with developers
  • Create and troubleshoot external server connections with partner services
  • Meet with job owners regarding job failures and discuss plans for correction
  • Develop batch jobs and workflows as requested by management
  • Create documentation for new procedures
  • Administer batch processing process flows and integration of systems with batch processing tools and other downstream systems

Duties/Responsibilities
Maintain and support account provisioning processes and tasks. This includes the establishment, implementation, and support of security roles, groups, classes, and objects in Student Information Systems suite of services.

  • Provision and administer user accounts and groups within application environments, including database-level accounts and roles.
  • Implement and document processes to ensure that security access levels are validated following employment changes (retirements, position changes, terminations) and that we are following Account provisioning policies set up by the Board of Regents
  • Work with campus community to resolve security issues and provide access as authorized by data stewards.
  • Work with the data stewards of the student data systems to revise security processes and address abuses of data access privileges.
  • Participate in audit-related tasks and ensure that team follows account administration procedures that are compliant with standards set by State Auditors, Board of Regents, and UGA

Provide production support for Student Information Systems

  • Support Student Systems application and data backup efforts
  • Coordinate Quarterly Patching, Cloning, and subsequent validation testing for Institutional ERP
  • Serve in on-call rotation for critical/core systems/application support 24/7. The duties and responsibilities of this position require home or off-campus Internet service as a job requirement, and the use of such Internet service is for business purposes.
  • Provide emergency response for critical systems and applications.
  • Has the ability to understand and adhere to pre-established guidelines and standards to perform function of job.
  • Identify program problems (debug/troubleshoot); formulate and implement appropriate corrections.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation on assigned systems
  • Maintain change management documentation and abide by change management protocols

  • Adhere to and effectively communicate pre-established application support guidelines and standards
  • Formulate and implement appropriate corrections
  • Provide on-site technical support and administration and maintenance for Argos, Active Directory, Entra ID, Power BI, and Microsoft Fabric (debug/troubleshoot), and resolve systems' problems.
