Position Summary
The Division of Cardiology at the UNC School of Medicine is recruiting for a cardiologist who will serve as inpatient lead for the Heart and Vascular service line at the Medical Center in Chapel Hill, NC. The successful candidate will be Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiology and will have proficiency in general cardiology, electrophysiology, heart failure or interventional cardiology.

The successful applicant will spend 20% of their time as inpatient service lead and have responsibility for coordinating inpatient units between Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery and Vascular Surgery. These responsibilities will cover all heart and vascular inpatient services including floor units, intermediate care units and ICUs. The goal of this position is to coordinate activities across all units including ensuring efficient acceptance of hospital-to-hospital transfers, most effective use of inpatient beds, and effective collaboration across the units. This position will also be responsible for designing and leading new inpatient strategic and operational programs patient throughput and length-of-stay initiatives.

Clinical responsibilities will depend upon cardiology subspeciality but will likely include a mixture of inpatient and outpatient cardiology +/- imaging and procedures.

Position rank and track (fixed term vs. tenure track vs. variable track) will be dependent upon applicant qualifications and experience.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
MD or DO required.
Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiology with proficiency in general cardiology, electrophysiology, heart failure or interventional cardiology.
Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Prior leadership experience and experience with program development are preferred.
