Job Summary

The Estimator supports the preconstruction and estimating team by preparing project cost estimates and proposals. This role focuses on scope definition, subcontractor coordination, and cost assembly. Unlike other estimating roles, the Process Estimator independently performs all quantity take-offs directly from project drawings and P&IDs, rather than receiving reports from a dedicated take-off team. The Estimator works under the direction of a Senior Estimator and/or Preconstruction Manager to ensure high-quality, accurate deliverables and project success.


Essential Duties

  • Review drawings, specifications, and RFP documents to understand scope and identify required inputs. This includes a comprehensive understanding across architectural, structural, and civil requirements.
  • Track addenda, scope changes, and bid forms to ensure all updates are incorporated into the estimate.
  • Develop specification summaries performs quantity take-offs using internal tools and standards.
  • Solicit, receive, and compare supplier and subcontractor proposals for completeness.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates (HVAC, plumbing, piping, process) using vendor quotes, take-offs, and historical data.
  • Participate in value-engineering discussions and support proposal development.
  • Assist with estimate reviews and scope alignment meetings.
  • Organize estimate files and maintain opportunity tracking information.
  • Comply with company estimating processes, forms, and standards.
  • Collaborate with Senior Estimators and Preconstruction Managers to refine cost assumptions and identify risks.
  • Support project transition meetings to operations teams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent experience in mechanical construction or estimating considered.
  • 0-5 years of experience in mechanical estimating or related construction roles.
