Summary:

Hitachi Particle Engineering and Services, Inc. (HPES) provides service and maintenance operations to Particle Therapy systems. Accsys Technologies, a division of HPES designs and manufactures ion RF LINAC systems (radio frequency linear accelerator), which are used in Particle Beam Therapy systems and R&D applications. Hitachi Particle Engineering and Services, Inc. is a Hitachi Group Company.

Position Summary:
Hitachi Particle Engineering and Services, Inc. is looking for an experienced Maintenance Service Technician I to provide service and maintenance for the Proton Beam Therapy (PBT) System, which is used for treating cancer atSt. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, and the associated support systems as assigned. The Maintenance Service Technician I will be responsible for preventative and corrective maintenance. The Maintenance Service Technician I will work as part of the team to ensure compliance of technical and mechanical programs such as; worker safety, spare parts program, tool management, equipment tagging, facility procedure compliance, administrative procedure compliance, office equipment and systems by following all necessary procedures, protocols and guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and positively affect operational performance of PBT system and patient experience.

  • Respond to calls for service support within a reasonable amount of time

  • Interface with customers to ensure maximum customer satisfaction

  • Perform all Preventative/Corrective maintenance tasks and corresponding paperwork (Daily report, PM, CM and Work order) in detailed and organized fashion.

  • Work with team members to carry out the scheduled preventive maintenances work to minimize part costs and maximize effectiveness.

  • Troubleshooting and problem solving complex PBT system issue to maximize system up-time under the Managers, Engineers, and Sr. Maintenance Service Technician direction.

  • Pack and unpack the cardboard box and/or wooden crate, perform inspect and test Incoming/outgoing materials and participate in shipment preparations.

  • Transport packages, wooden crates, gas cylinders to and from the loading dock and warehouse

  • Documentation for inventory control of the necessary supplies and parts.

  • Work in compliance with all regulatory standards including but not limited to HIPPA, EH&S, FDA, OSHA Radiation Safety, applicable laws, and internal policies and interpretations of the above as required

  • Safely work in areas with high voltage/ elevated area and utilize proper LOTO (lock-out, Tag-out) safety practices.

  • Create and maintain 6S practices (Safety, Sort, Store, Shine, Standardize, Sustain)

  • Complete and submit all timecards and service reports in a timely fashion and includes all relevant details.

  • Self-motivated and have strong sense of responsibility.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 years of experience working or education as a Technician or Field Service Engineer is required.

  • At least 1 year of experience for PBT system and/or Medical device environment is preferred.

  • Technically skilled with proven ability to troubleshoot problems, solve abstract issues, and interpret policies and procedures

  • Ability to:

  • Identify the hazard risks and work safely

  • read and correctly interpret various engineering documents (schematics, wiring, piping diagrams, etc.)

  • use standard electrical test and measurement instruments (Oscilloscope, Multimeter, etc.)

  • safely work in regions of mechanical, electrical, high voltage and radiation.

  • safely lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly

  • work on elevated area with safety harnesses

  • work as part of a cross-functional team

  • maintain focus and work with precision over extended periods

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel, Word)

  • Develop and improve procedures

  • Flexibility to cover rotating shifts and availability to work overtime as needed.

  • Continue to be interested in new knowledge and have the consciousness to learn and grow on our own.

  • Must demonstrate ability to work well with various personnel demonstrating a good attitude and ability to work successfully as a member of the team.

  • Must take vaccination for influenza, MMR (Measles, Mumps and Rubella) and Tdap.

Education:

  • High school diploma or associate's degree (A.S.) or more required.
