Job Description
  • Provides leadership and guidance to the nursingstaff.

  • Ensures thetimelydelivery of health services tostudents.

  • Assess health problems and needs of person(s) served,develop,and implement nursing care plans, andmaintainmedical records. Administer nursing care to person(s) served. Advise person(s) served and staff on health maintenance and disease prevention and/or provide case management.

  • Provides patient care, assessment,triage,and treatment.

  • Provides input to Health Services Director, Center Physician,and Center Mental Health Consultantfor case management of student health issues.

  • Assiststudent orientation to Health Services.

  • Assists Health Services Director with center wide staff training requirements.

  • Promotes and projects activities that support health and safety throughout thecenter.

  • Acts as liaison for Wellness Classroom and Center Life dormitories.

  • Assures maintenance of medical recordsin accordance withPRH standards and Nurse PracticeActs.

  • Performs quality assurance recordsaudits.

  • Participates in department system for student feedback and concerns.

  • Provides on call service and emergency care including first aid and CPR;facilitatesprovision ofemergency service on center.

  • Assist Health Service Director with monitoring Health Services expenditures tocomply withestablished contract andbudgets.

  • Complies withOSHA requirements.

  • Assists Health Service Director with medication management including monthly inventory andordering of stock medication/vaccines; weekly count and monitoring of controlled substanceand daily ordering and monitoring of student prescriptions to assure safety of medications andvaccines.

  • Maintainsaccuraterecords for ordering, storage,administration,and disposal ofmedication/vaccines.

  • Ensures all hospital reports and lab reports are followed up on.

  • Implements infections control measures in Health Service andassistsin monitoring center-wideinfection control.

  • Assistsin monitoring use, maintenance and disposal of supplies and equipment in Health Services.

  • Assesses personnel needs and works with the Human Resources department to screen and interview potential staff. Recommends promotions, transfers, and merit evaluations within the department. Conducts and prepares performance appraisals.

  • Clearlycommunicatesandconsistentlymodelsappropriate CSSand employability skills.

  • Maintainsaccountabilityofstaff,students,and property.

  • Adheres to safety practices in all areas of responsibility.

  • Fosters and sustains a conducive environment at the center, ensuring itremainsfree from harassment, intimidation, and disrespect, thereby ensuring a safe space for both staff and students to engage in work and learning.

Qualifications
  • Associate degree in nursingrequired.

  • Registered Nurse: active, unrestricted license to practice in the state where the center islocated.

  • Twoyears related experience.

  • One yearsupervisory experience.

  • Experience working withdiverseyouth.

  • A valid driver's license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record
