DESCRIPTION

Under the direct supervision of the Clinic Manager. This role supports clinic operations and MA Care Assist functions in alignment with the Business and Professions Code of the State of California and Joint Commission standards.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: scheduling patient appointments; managing patient workflows within the electronic health record; supporting accurate billing processes; performing environmental care functions; managing equipment and supplies; and maintaining a clean and safe clinical environment through proper disinfection protocols.

This role also supports patient communication and care coordination through Notable and ECC workflows, including assisting with patient outreach, follow-up coordination, and routing of clinical inquiries in accordance with scope and established protocols.

The position requires working knowledge of medical terminology, scheduling systems, universal precautions, and proper body mechanics. It also requires strong initiative, the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment, and effective teamwork across multidisciplinary teams. Other related duties may be assigned as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART w/in 6 months of hire date.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR Certificate of completion of a Medical Assistant training program.
  • Two (2) or more years of Medical Assistant experience, preferably in a large healthcare system.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, online scheduling, universal precautions, and proper use of body mechanics.
  • Requires initiative, the ability to prioritize demands and the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Strong computer skills and working knowledge of MS Office Suite, including: Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing and be able to articulate complex ideas for all levels of audiences.
  • Knowledge and training in patient care, environmental care functions, equipment/supply management and cleaning/disinfecting the environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Infusion/oncology experience.
  • Experience working in a large healthcare institution.
  • Epic experience preferred
  • Specialty experience (GI/Hepatology strongly preferred)
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $52,847 - $65,772 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $25.31 - $31.50

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
