Purpose
The Equipment Operations Manager provides oversight and management of the company's rental equipment, small tools, and medium equipment assets, overseeing vendor relationships, inventory, and maintenance. By analyzing utilization and collaborating with internal teams, the position ensures efficient operations, cost-effective decisions, and alignment of equipment resources with business needs.

Focus & Scope
Essential duties and responsibilities, i.e. those which are basic, necessary, and an integral part of the job, are indicated below:
  1. Manage rental vendor relationships through vendor sourcing, rate building, and rental cost optimization. Oversee rate negotiation and rental contracts.
  2. Collaborate with contracts, estimating, payroll, and risk management teams to ensure agreements are legally compliant, rental rates are accurate, and work order coding is correct.
  3. Oversee the resolution of rental equipment damage claims.
  4. Coordinator post-purchase setup and deployment of assets.
  5. Administer asset disposal processes, including auctions and engagement with external brokers.
  6. Manage small tools inventory, including purchasing and monthly consultation with business unit leaders to align stock levels with operational needs.
  7. Maintain accurate cost and recovery reporting to inform equipment rate determination.
  8. Meet with division leaders to assess equipment requirements and retirement plans, supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting goals for rentals and small assets.
  9. Analyze equipment utilization, rental reports, and telematics data to optimize asset deployment, inform rental versus purchase decisions, and establish equipment retirement benchmarks.
  10. Acts as Superuser for all telematics systems to ensure proper equipment data utilization.
  11. Monitor and ensure completion of preventative maintenance activities within applicable systems.
  12. Facilitate acquisition of approved heavy equipment through the Capital Expenditure process, coordinating with necessary parties upon receipt. Prepares necessary financials required for annual forecasting of Capital Expenditure resources to present to the board.
  13. Generate equipment usage reports and distribute weekly oil sampling requests to all superintendents.
  14. Oversee development and implementation of mechanic dispatch process which includes evaluating operational analytics and creating procedures for efficient optimization of resources.

  • Equipment Administrator, Equipment Coordinator, Equipment Specialist, Specialty Equipment Mechanics, Specialty Equipment Inventory Coordinators, and Small Equipment Foremen.

External Clients:
  • Rental vendors, Auction houses, and Brokers

Internal Clients:
  • Accounts Payable, Contracts, Finance, Risk Management, Estimating, Payroll, and all operations staff within the Teichert Family of Companies.

Role Qualifications and Requirements:

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.

Experience and Industry Expertise:
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in equipment operations, fleet management, or equipment maintenance, or an equivalent combination of training and related experience required.
  • Minimum of three to five (3-5) years of experience supervising others.
  • Experience in a union environment and a basic understanding of Collective Bargaining Agreements preferred.
Specific Job Requirements:
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug, alcohol, and background investigation
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Current on all company required safety training
  • Ability to preserve confidential and proprietary information and avoid conflicts-of-interest
  • Good working knowledge of collective bargaining agreements, personnel issues, and EEO
  • Strong ability to supervise and direct entry level employees
  • Thorough knowledge of inventory control
  • Knowledge of construction related tools and equipment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong knowledge of company's Standard Operating Policies and Procedures
  • Regular travel between shop locations required

Equipment Used, Physical Demands, and Work Environment:

Equipment Used:
  • General office equipment, telephone, automobile, personal protective equipment (i.e. safety glasses, hearing protection) when visiting plants.
Physical Demands & Work Environment: The physical demands and work environment characteristics are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   • Physical: Sitting for long periods of time working on the computer or attending meetings. Job site visits require walking on uneven ground, steep slopes, and exposure to extreme temperature and/or humidity. Some lifting of materials and equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Work Environment: Typical office environment with adequate temperatures and lighting, low levels of noise. Demands of meeting tight deadlines. Exposed to the conditions of job sites which can include loud noise, dust, fumes, and extreme weather conditions prevalent at the time. May work various hours, including early mornings, dusk or evenings.

BASE SALARY RANGE:
$112,500.00 - $157,500.00
The range displayed reflects the range the company reasonable expects to pay for the position. The actual base salary is subject to variation due to the role, level, geographic location, relevant education, training, or experience, among other factors.
