Job Summary

The Senior Peer Response & Education Specialist, under limited supervision, provides emotional support and psychological first aid (PFA) integrating principles of psychological safety, respect, inclusion and belonging into all peer support services in the form of peer response as well as trauma- and resilience-informed training and education within Denver Health's RESTORE program. In alignment with RESTORE's mission of promoting increased and sustained mental well-being of the health professional workforce as well as individual, collective and organizational resilience, this role provides peer support across several service lines including the 24/7 peer support line, group support opportunities, mobile service delivery and a drop-in center for Denver Health personnel. The Senior Peer Response & Education Specialist facilitates trauma- and resilience-informed systems and workforce well-being education and training.

Essential Functions:

  • Pre-Clinical Peer Support Service Provision: Delivers advanced peer support services by integrating principles of psychological safety, respect, inclusion and belonging into all peer support services with a trauma informed lens. Staffs the RESTORE Support Center, a drop-in center for Denver Health personnel. Provides Psychological First Aid (PFA) across Denver Health RESTORE Peer Support service lines as needed. Demonstrates sound clinical judgement in identifying the needs of distressed staff within peer support encounters and activations, referring to internal and external resources as appropriate. (50%)
  • Administration: Contributes subject matter expertise to the development of preparedness and response plans for the Denver Health RESTORE program and its services. Supports RESTORE Support Center operations, including programming, infection control, supply stocking in service of workforce well-being and care. Collaborates with internal and external resources to support referral processes. (25%)
  • Training and Education: Plays a key role in shaping training initiatives by contributing to the development of training curriculum. Facilitates and delivers trauma-informed training and education. Serves as a knowledgeable resource in promoting psychological resilience and organizational well-being through ongoing training and capacity-building efforts. (25%)

Education:

  • Master's Degree in human services or counseling-related field Required OR
  • Post-Graduate Diploma or Certificate Program or certification in human services, health and wellness, medical or counseling-related field Required and 2 years additional experience working in the health and wellness field Required
  • LPC, LCSW, MSW or equivalent master's level mental health professional; board certification- or licensure-eligible. Required

Work Experience:

  • 4-6 years experience in assessing psychological needs and providing psychological first aid as well as group support and relevant documentation. Required and
  • 4-6 years experience working in the mental health and well-being field. Required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Skilled in independently assessing complex psychological needs and delivering Psychological First Aid (PFA) and/or group support.
  • Ability to independently implement new programs and practices effectively across the entire organization, contributing to systemic change and sustainable impact.
  • Ability to complete timely and accurate documentation.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of strategies for sustaining health care personnel well-being.
  • Skilled in logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Skilled in providing crisis response during high-impact events-including traumatic incidents, disasters, pandemics, and events stemming from systemic inequities-while maintaining composure and clinical judgment.
  • Skilled in effectively navigating internal systems and external networks to coordinate timely and appropriate linkages to collaborative support services.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality related to service provision and case details.
  • Ability to operate effectively as an experienced contributor within interdisciplinary teams, offering valuable insights and consistent follow through.
  • Ability to demonstrate professional maturity through openness to feedback and the ability to integrate constructive input into continuous practice improvement.
  • Excellent organization skills and ability to multitask and juggle multiple priorities.
  • Adaptive interpersonal skills by adjusting actions based on team dynamics and individual needs.
  • Ability to foster strong collaborative relationships across departments to enhance psychological safety and service integration.
  • Skilled in facilitating trauma-informed education and training sessions for diverse audiences, tailoring content to audience needs and organizational goals.
  • Ability to proactively identify opportunities to support others, contributing meaningfully to a culture of care and psychological wellbeing.
