Connect with NRG on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and X. Summary: This role supports NRG's commercial and operational activities within PJM, ISO-NE, and NYISO. The position contributes to day-ahead scheduling, market submissions, outage coordination, and communication across teams. The successful candidate will help ensure continuity, accuracy, and alignment across the business by working closely with Operations, the Gas Desk, Asset Management, and the broader Commercial team. Key Responsibilities: Market Interactions & Scheduling
- Assist with preparing and submitting accurate and timely bids, offers, operating plans, outage tickets, and other required submissions across PJM, ISO-NE, and NYISO.
- Support the day-ahead scheduling of physical, financial, and ancillary service transactions in accordance with established company practices and ISO requirements.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of asset dispatch strategies, including opportunities related to ancillary services, gas imbalance management, and cashout considerations.
Cross-Team Coordination
- Serve as a central point for communicating operational updates-including fuel burns, nomination adjustments, and changes impacting gas consumption-to the Gas Desk, Asset Management, Plant Operations, and other internal partners.
- Support consistency of information exchange between market activities and real-time operations.
- Work collaboratively with teams to ensure market, operational, and fuel data remain aligned and accurate.
Commercial & Operational Support
- Provide assistance to the commercial team with scheduling, gas management, or operational tasks as needed.
- Help maintain tools, data sets, and reporting used to support scheduling accuracy and operational visibility.
- Participate in trade checkouts, settlement support, and issue resolution efforts in coordination with the appropriate teams.
Compliance & Standards
- Follow all NRG policies, as well as required NERC and FERC standards.
- Ensure all activities meet internal guidelines, documentation requirements, and compliance expectations.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in economics, business, finance, or other relevant degree or direct industry or military related experience
Qualifications:
- Familiarity with PJM, ISO NE, and/or NYISO market structures, portals, and operational processes.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple time sensitive tasks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort working in ISO or market based systems.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
- Ability to work under timing constraints
- Capable/proficient with Microsoft Suite and web based environments.
- If not PJM certified, candidate must complete certification within 6 months of hire.
- If not NERC certified, candidate must complete certification within 18 months of hire.
- Candidate must complete the Day Ahead Desk qualification process prior to first unsupervised shift within 12 months of hire.
- Candidates must be able to work a 12-hour shift schedule as part of a 7-day-a-week operation.
- Candidates must be able to fulfill storm/event duty requirements that require working during hurricane, winter storms and other possible catastrophic event conditions. Persons in this role may be required to report to the storm/event duty location(s) and perform the job functions as required. This may include extended shifts as necessary until storm or event conditions reside.
Preferred:
- PJM Generator Certification and/or NERC Certification.
- Experience with ancillary service offerings, fuel burn management, and gas balancing strategies.
- Prior exposure to outage coordination and ISO settlement processes.
- Relevant experience in power scheduling, gas management, or related market/operations roles.
