The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) manages the efficient flow of electricity on more than 11,000 circuit-miles of high-voltage transmission lines, dispatching power from hundreds of generating units across the state.

The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) applies cutting-edge technology to operating a reliable electricity system, managing competitive markets for wholesale electricity, and planning for the Empire State's energy future. The NYISO's Human Resources team invites applications for a full-time Recruiting Specialist.

The Recruiting Specialist provides critical support for and management of NYISO's recruiting and hiring processes. This will include working with the HR recruiting leader to develop, implement and maintain a comprehensive and cost effective recruiting strategy, partnering with hiring managers in a decentralized hiring environment to provide guidance on best practices, and acting as an expert advisor on developing a search plan which will result in a qualified and comprehensive pool of candidates for all positions across the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Maintain and continuously improve recruiting process and procedures for both internal and external searches; including the application of best practices for candidate sourcing, screening and interviewing.
  • Working with the HR recruiting leader; develop recruiting and hiring guidelines document and provide training to management on the NYISO recruiting process.
  • Acts as system administrator for applicant tracking system.
  • Responsible for creating, maintaining and updating Ad Hoc and standard reports.
  • Manage fullcycle recruiting for assigned roles, from intake through offer acceptance. This would include:

    • Primary communicator with hiring manager throughout requisition process
    • Conducting initial meetings with the hiring manager and appropriate HR manager to formulate a recruiting plan
    • Develop, extend, and negotiate employment offers in accordance with compensation structures, internal policies, and approval guidelines


  • Author ad copies which appropriately reflect a positions qualifications and responsibility, while at the same time using the ad copy as a tool to brand and create name recognition for the NYISO
  • Works with the hiring manager and Manager, Human Resources to ensure the job description on file is accurate and up to date or assists with and coordinate necessary changes.
  • Develop and utilize a wide range of sourcing opportunities, both discipline specific and more general.
  • Post jobs both internally and externally.
  • Works with the appropriate hiring manager and Manager, Human Resources on logistics for upcoming interviews.
  • This role will provide administrative and coordination support for NYISO's employmentbased immigration and visa sponsorship activities, in partnership with the HR Generalist. Some responsibilities may include:

    • Assist with the collection, organization, and secure handling of immigrationrelated documentation required during recruiting and onboarding.
    • Coordinate communications between candidates, HR, hiring managers, and external immigration counsel for recruitingrelated matters
    • Follow established procedures to ensure immigrationrelated recruiting activities align with internal policies and compliance requirements
    • Other duties as assigned


  • Develop and maintain recruiting metrics across the full hiring lifecycle, including diversity metrics
  • Support the development and execution of NYISO's college recruiting strategy in partnership with the Senior Recruiting Specialist.
  • Assist with the coordination and administration of NYISO's internship program.
  • Work with appropriate Manager, Human Resources and Communications on recruiting efforts which involve social media and employment branding.
  • The Recruiting Specialist ensures NYISO's compliance with all Federal and State regulatory requirements regarding the employment and staffing processes and coordinates efforts with Human Resources managers to ensure seamless service delivery and high customer satisfaction throughout staffing process.




Willingness and ability to travel during peak college recruiting seasons (primarily Spring and Fall) is required, including overnight and outofstate travel, to represent NYISO at oncampus recruiting events, job fairs, and national conferences.

QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:



  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field from an accredited four-year college or university required.
  • A minimum of three years of experience with staffing processes, preferably in a decentralized hiring environment
  • Experience recruiting for highly specialized positions with demonstrated success sourcing and screening candidates.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to perform routine office tasks. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Contact with staff and public will occur. Travel may be required to attend and/or conduct meetings, conferences and training. This position may require work on nights, weekends or holidays.

In this role, you will be required to work onsite from our Rensselaer, NY location several days per workweek, with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.
