We are currently accepting applications for the part time temporary (24 hrs/wk) position of:

IT Intern
Department of Innovation and Technology
(May 1st until September 1st)

Hourly Rate: $23.00
No benefits

Summary
Under supervision, performs administrative and technical work; daily operations of and
provides user support for desktop computing, including all associated peripherals,
computer hardware and software. Performs all other related work as required.

Essential Functions
The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the

* Provides basic and advanced technical support to all municipal and public safety
departments.

* Assists with provisioning, maintaining, and troubleshooting workstations/devices and
their software/applications across all municipal and public safety departments (500
computers, 350 mobile devices, 20 copiers, 100 printers).

* Responsible for maintaining multiple asset management systems for purposes of
ongoing and historic inventory, mobile device management, and hardware lifecycle.

* Acts as contact for internal Town staff regarding technology-related issues, utilizing
incident and service management tools.

* Assists with a broad scope of IT projects as required, directed, or as the situation
dictates.

* Assists with monitoring endpoint security with standard antivirus/malware protection
and monitoring tools, recognizing, and responding to cybersecurity threats.

* Assists in the creation, maintenance, and organization of department documentation.

* Maintains and organizes the equipment and supplies in the technology storage room.

* Assists in the preparation of staff technology training.

* Assists with researching and investigating new technology solutions to meet specific
needs of various Town departments.

* Assists internal staff and Boards and Committees with a variety of hybrid meeting
technologies.

* Regular attendance at the workplace is required.

* Performs other similar or related duties, as required or as situation dictates.

Supervision
Supervision Scope: Performs various duties of a routine to complex nature following
acceptable standards of quality and performance, requires independent judgment in
determining methods of completion and carrying out assignments.

Supervision Received: Works under the direction of the Director of Innovation and
Technology.
Supervision Given: None.

Recommended Minimum Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience

* Enrolled in an undergraduate program
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize and analyze significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
* Ability to work in the United States without the need for current or future Town sponsorship

* Valid driver's license.

Knowledge: Basic familiarity with operating systems for a wide range of devices and
software applications.

Ability: Ability to operate computer and various hardware/software necessary for
performing assigned duties. Ability to analyze problems, identify alternatives and
solutions, and project consequences of proposed actions. Ability to perform multiple tasks
at one time. Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with various departments.
Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently, verbally and in writing.

Skills: Excellent planning and organizational skills. Strong verbal communication skills.
Proficient computer, interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Skills in operating a wide
variety of complex hardware and software. Strong skills with ticketing solution
management.

Job Environment

* Work is performed under typical office conditions as well as areas such as vehicle
bays, and the noise level is moderate to loud.

* Operates an automobile, computer, calculator, copier, facsimile machine, and other
standard office equipment.

* Position requires regular communication with co-workers, vendors, department staff,
external project management personnel, and engineers. Contact is conducted via
phone, written correspondence, email, and in-person interaction, and primarily
involves the exchange of information and professional dialogue.

* Has access to confidential and/or sensitive information, including information related
to health, finance, and criminal justice.

* Errors could result in personal injury, delays, or loss of services, and have possible
financial and/or legal repercussions.

Physical Requirements
The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an
employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable

Regularly required to walk, stand, sit, talk, and hear; operate objects, tools, or controls;
pick up paper, files, and other common office objects. Ability to view computer screens
and work with details for extended periods of time. May occasionally move objects
weighing up to 30 pounds. Must be able to communicate. Vision and hearing at or
correctable to normal ranges. Frequent repair and installation of computers and other
equipment involving bending and working in hard-to-reach areas.
