What you will do:
The Director, Certification Design & Psychometrics oversee the design of examinations and assessments, management of examination forms, and monitoring of exam performance using psychometric data for PMI Certifications. Leading a diverse team of measurement specialists, assessment designers, exam developers, volunteer coordinators, and technologists, this role also has significant vendor sourcing, oversight, and management responsibilities. As the psychometrician of record, the Director also ensures the validity, reliability, fairness of the certification program, and supports maintaining high market value of certification products.
What you will bring to the role:
  • Advanced degree (Ph.D.) in related field an Educational Measurement or Psychology program
  • 15+ years' experience in quantitative and statistical analyses, as applied to high-stakes job role certification programs or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of direct team leadership experience
  • Strong understanding of exam and assessment methodologies and models.
  • Prior professional experience managing and mentoring teams of exam developers and measurement specialists.
  • Passion for the craft of creating assessment items: psychometrics, performance-based testing and technical and content choices.
  • Ability to balance natural creativity with a desire to create scalable, sustainable, psychometrically-sound systems
  • Commitment to equitable leadership and team practices, including transparency, modeling vulnerability, encouraging dissent, interrupting group think, advocating for radical inclusion, and employing active listening.
  • Strong abilities with data analyses and reporting, to both technical and executive management audiences
  • Ability to work in various statistical tools/programs (e.g., R, SPSS, bilog, parscale, winstep...) and strong spreadsheet (Excel) skills
  • Familiarity and fluency with multi-modal exam delivery systems.
  • Occasional domestic and international travel may be required for internal team or leadership meetings, or for external events, including representing the practices and principles of the Certification team to the PMI community and peers in the education, edtech, and professional training space.
