Job Description

We are seeking a Design Coordinator to support projects in our California-Desert Business Unit with preferred location on West Coast (either PST or MST zones). Our ideal candidate will proactively partner with Design Managers and other members of the project team to provide Design Coordination support on projects from start to finish.



Job Summary

The Design Coordination role involves performing routine technical and administrative support tasks as directed, working within clearly defined guidelines. The role focuses on supporting the design team to facilitate smooth operations in managing design deliverables, coordinating construction administration tasks, and ensures that deliverables meet the client's expectations. The role operates under close supervision and is generally without decision-making authority. This role focuses on gaining an understanding of role responsibilities and acquiring new skills in design coordination.



Responsibilities

  • Provide basic technical and administrative support to the design team as directed.
  • Assist in maintaining master lists and logs during design and construction.
  • Participate in specification development using Specification Development Platform (SpecLink).
  • Coordinate design deliverable content and support design deliverables production.
  • Assist in developing design work breakdown structure and schedule.
  • Help prepare and implement project and quality management plans, documentation and health and safety plans.
  • Help coordinate and document QA/QC activities.
  • Support the maintenance of project collaboration sites.
  • Provide support for Design Manager (DM) with Subject Matter Expert (SME) engagement for QC and scope, schedule and budget, development.
  • Flexibility to adapt and execute various additional assignments based on evolving needs.
  • May assist with subconsultants/teaming partner coordination.
  • May coordinate design team meetings, communications and presentation materials.
  • Understand client and other external stakeholder's project standard



Preferred Requirements

  • Work closely with the design managers to lead the design team coordination and communication. Build relationships with design managers and team members; proactively identify work assignments that need to be completed.
  • Create and maintain master specification lists, drawing lists, action item lists, consolidated comment logs, decision logs, and other design-related lists/logs as needed.
  • Partner with design managers to ensure that all design submittals meet the internal performance requirements of the project QA/QC plan, and maintain documentation of QA/QC (approvals, markups, etc.). Setup workflows and review sessions through Bluebeam Studio.
  • Create and manage internal project design, QC, and deliverable schedules.
  • Maintain internal and external project collaboration sites to ensure continuous communication and document management across the project team, including internal team members, the client, and subconsultants.



Skills and Competencies

  • Basic understanding of technical and administrative tasks in design and construction coordination.
  • Developing ability to manage logistical aspects of design deliverables production and maintain project collaboration sites.
  • Good coordination and project management skills.
  • Good communication and administrative skills.
  • Aptitude for acquiring new skills.



Experience

  • Typically requires 0-2 years of design coordination or related professional experience.



Preferred Experience

  • Minimum two years' experience in project coordination and construction specification standards/EJCDC in the A&E and construction industry preferred.
  • Candidate should be highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; Power Point, Project, SharePoint, Bluebeam and ProjectWise skills are a plus.
  • Candidate should be able to anticipate project needs and have the ability to identify work assignments independently.
  • Candidate should be comfortable working directly with senior managers and technical staff.
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal) are essential.
  • Successful candidate will be proactive and self-motivated with a desire to learn and grow in the role.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize required.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment required.
  • Ability to work under multiple deadline pressures required.
  • Candidate should be skilled in problem solving.
  • Candidate should be willing to work occasional over-time.



Education

  • An associate's degree in business administration or relevant work experience is required.



Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location A: $22.50 - $27.90
Location B: $24.50 - $30.80
Location C: $26.90 - $33.70
