Job Summary: Install, maintain, and repair various mechanical equipment and systems to ensure that buildings and equipment are operationally ready and functioning efficiently. This includes performing routine preventive maintenance and periodic repair functions on equipment including fork trucks, vehicles, manual machines, sandblast equipment, welding equipment, cranes, hand tools, power tools, hydraulic systems, compressed air systems, and HVAC equipment; performing lubrication and filter maintenance on all equipment as needed. Additionally, position may be required to assist Machine/Electrical Technicians to support performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and performing repairs on machines and other equipment. May also be required to assist Facilities Technicians and perform facilities work. Responsible for establishing/adhering to repair schedules and providing technical assistance to other departments as needed. Position is also responsible to assist and train other departmental members as may be required. Accountabilities: Responsible for ensuring equipment is in good functioning order to be able to meet production requirements. Ensure equipment meets the requirements of the applicable code or specification while working in the most efficient manner. All SOP's and SWI's must be followed, and a safe, clean, and organized work area must be maintained. Essential Functions: Perform electrical and/or mechanical diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on equipment as needed, including assessing equipment failures, and recommending and implementing improvements. Equipment includes machine tools, fork trucks, vehicles, cranes, sandblast equipment, welding equipment, plant utility systems, and HVAC systems.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Minimum Requirements: Training or trade experience commensurate to the Technician level being filled. Additional consideration for welding, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or general construction experience, related certifications, and/or associated training and education. Essential Mental Functions: Must understand vague and implicit instructions and react favorably in all work situations. Must be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people. Certification Required - Must be able to successfully complete Petersen training on boom and scissor lifts, fork truck, and overhead cranes. Visual Acuity - Near acuity and accommodation are required for reading machine dial gauges, blueprints, and precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of parts and machinery. Hearing Ability - Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes in order to take appropriate action. Working Conditions - Normally works in a shop environment.
