Job Summary The Data Center Technician I supports the physical buildout of data center infrastructure in new construction environments. This entry-level, contract-to-hire role provides hands-on training and mentorship while assisting with the installation, routing, and termination of fiber and copper cabling. The technician helps assemble racks, cable pathways, and related hardware while following technical drawings, installation standards, and safety protocols. This role is open to candidates from a wide range of skilled trades and hands-on backgrounds, including construction, electrical, mechanical, telecommunications, low voltage, and similar installation-focused fields. The position plays an important role in maintaining organized infrastructure, supporting equipment installations, and ensuring that construction and deployment activities progress efficiently within large-scale data center environments. Job Responsibilities

Assist with fiber and copper cable infrastructure installation, including rough-in and routing

Perform cable management tasks such as dressing, organizing, and labeling cables

Assist with fiber and copper cable termination following installation standards

Rack and stack equipment and support server rack build-outs

Install ladder racks, fiber trays, cable management systems, and equipment cabinets

Assemble hardware and support infrastructure installations including cable pathways and power trays

Receive materials, verify components, and assist with hardware staging and assembly

Support Outside Plant (OSP) fiber entry into the facility when required

Read and follow installation drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation

Maintain clear and professional communication with team members and project leadership

Follow all site safety requirements including PPE usage, proper equipment operation, and maintaining a clean jobsite

Assist with documentation and organization of installation activities to support project progress
Job Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalency
-
0-2 years of experience in data centers, telecommunications, construction, electrical, mechanical, or other skilled trade environments

Candidates from skilled trades backgrounds such as construction, electrical work, mechanical installation, telecommunications, cable installation, or similar hands-on roles are encouraged to apply

OSHA 10 certification preferred

Ability to read and follow blueprints, installation drawings, and technical instructions

Experience or exposure to fiber and copper cabling including routing, dressing, labeling, or basic termination is helpful but not required

Familiarity with rack and equipment installation including ladder racks, trays, cabinets, or cable pathways is beneficial

Experience using ladders, scissor lifts, and working safely with appropriate PPE
-
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds when necessary

Ability to stand, bend, and work in physically active environments for extended periods

Ability to work in confined spaces and elevated work areas when required

Basic proficiency with hand tools such as snips, pliers, screwdrivers, tape measures, punchdown tools, and drills

Experience supporting installation projects, construction environments, or facility operations is beneficial
-
Experience receiving materials, verifying inventory, or supporting hardware staging is preferred
