Job Description

At IPS, we are global leaders in developing innovative solutions for the consulting, architecture, engineering, project controls, procurement, construction management, and CQV of technically complex facilities, primarily in the life sciences industry. We are looking for a talented Procurement Intern to join our dedicated team at our headquarters in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania.

Under direct supervision, you will assist with the timely placement of purchase orders and coordinate activities involved in procuring goods and services, such as commodity, process, and utility equipment, trade subcontracts, and associated services. You will also assist with project-specific subcontracts and purchase orders (POs), supplier qualification, expediting, and invoice tracking, shipping, and receipt documentation.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Receive and process requisitions from various project teams.
  • Prepare and place purchase orders with vendors in accordance with lead times and operational requirements.
  • Expedite orders to track the timely receipt of goods or services.
  • Maintain accurate purchase transaction history through organized purchasing and vendor records on an ongoing basis.
  • Monitor price increases and communicate changes with Procurement staff.
  • Research new qualified subcontractors and vendors as needed.
  • Obtain quotes and proposals as required.
  • Evaluation of existing vendors as needed.
  • Evaluate proposals for completeness and quality. Assist in the preparation of recommendations for the award.
  • Support Procurement staff with operational/administrative tasks as needed.
  • Track diversity spend and cost savings.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Strong moral convictions and ethical business commitment.
  • Strong sense of teamwork and positive attitude.
  • Current enrollment in under graduate supply chain or related business program.
  • Willingness to participate and advance learning in the sourcing of equipment and trade subcontracts.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to professionally represent IPS to various suppliers, external resources, and clients (if required).
  • Effectively interact with various personalities in multiple departments and supplier organizations.
  • Daily use of excellent verbal and written communication is necessary.
  • Enjoy challenges in a fast-paced environment and make logical decisions with the ability to identify when it's necessary to escalate issues and opportunities to management.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented work in a multi-tasking environment.
