We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Sr. Market Research Manager on our Environmental Intelligence team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 3 days a week in the office.

As a Sr. Market Research Manager, you will develop and implement formal frameworks and methodologies for approaching qualitative research and evaluation. Analyze and leverage existing resources and proactively identify new innovative approaches and actionable strategy for the AMA in areas of qualitative expertise and evaluation to achieve business goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions/Responsibilities Qualitative Research/Project Planning
  • Collaborate with VP, Strategic Insights, and Director, Market Research, to develop and execute qualitative research and evaluation projects for AMA programs, products and services
  • Provide direction and oversight for primary research across AMA programs, products and services Methodologies may include facilitation, ideation, co-creation, one-on-one interviews, focus groups, usability testing, surveys, strategy workshops, etc
  • Serve as an enterprise subject matter expert on best qualitative research and evaluation methodologies
  • Partner cross-functionally to define and shape business needs to develop the actionable roadmaps to meet goals through qualitative learning and evaluation techniques
  • Present insights and guide the interpretation of findings into actionable, tactical plans
  • Oversee the effective planning, execution, and monitoring of the technical and operational tasks necessary to complete research and evaluation studies, including partnerships with outside suppliers, to ensure quality, consistency, and timeliness of research outcomes
  • Work with the Director, Market Research to oversee best practices, tools and protocols meant to improve design and usability of AMA programs, products and services

Relationship Development

  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal
    stakeholders across the enterprise to support Strategic Insights as a trusted
    and reliable partner
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with an array
    of vendors, outside experts, and collaborators to aid in the research and
    development of AMA programs, products and services

Staff Management

  • Lead, mentor and provide management oversight for professional staff
  • Responsible for setting objectives, evaluating employee performance, and fostering a collaborative team environment
  • Responsible for developing staff knowledge and skills to support career development

May include other responsibilities as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelor's degree required; MBA, MS, MA, MPH, PMP or equivalent certification preferred
  2. 7+ years' experience working in a high-performance organization, leading qualitative and user research initiatives
  3. Demonstrated experience in moderating/conducting one-on-one interviews, co-creation studies, or focus groups
  4. Experience in health care or public health preferred
  5. Experience in people management required; able to attract and develop talent
  6. Demonstrated negotiation and facilitation skills with the ability to exercise diplomacy, tact, professionalism, responsiveness, and a high level of flexibility
  7. Knowledge of Agile methodologies, OKR methodology, product and program life cycles and methods
  8. Able to lead and oversee complex research and analysis, identify key insights, and recommend actions
  9. Polished interpersonal skills; effective communication,
    both written and verbal; with the ability to think and communicate effectively,
    formulate a clear point of view on complicated issues, and create a concise and
    well written narrative
  10. Some travel required

The American Medical Association is located at 330 N. Wabash Avenue, Chicago, IL 60611 and is convenient to all public transportation in Chicago.

This role is an exempt position, and the salary range for this position is $104,872-$138,737. This is the lowest to highest salary we believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's pay within the salary range will be determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to business consideration and geographical location, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
