Job Summary

Oversees and maintains all aspects of the nursing lab and simulation center to ensure a properly functioning educational learning lab by purchasing, preparing and maintaining related equipment, facility space, supplies, simulation equipment, and other resources used for nursing instructional purposes. Supervises other nursing lab staff.

Essential Functions

30% - Plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, reviews and evaluates the work of staff. Organizes, prepares and oversees the maintenance, cleanliness and functionality of nursing laboratory/simulation supplies, equipment, materials and physical arrangement. Plans and coordinates the installation and maintenance of required supplies and equipment. Oversees the preventative maintenance, service and repair of assigned equipment. Adheres to safe practices, confidentiality, and simulation/laboratory ethics related to student learning.

30% - Prepares reports; coordinates scheduling; develops and maintains manuals and/or educational materials related to lab equipment and supplies. Performs simulation/laboratory equipment training to faculty and staff. Ensures compliance with safety procedures and best practices. Develops, recommends and implements operating policies, practices and work standards for laboratory operations.

30% - Reviews inventory needs, communicates with vendors and initiates ordering and purchasing of equipment and supplies. Maintains budget records and monitors expenditures; assists with evaluating need for capital equipment purchases. Utilizes communication and interpersonal skills to supervise nursing lab technicians, interact with supervisors, colleagues, students, and the general public to convey information and receive work direction related to nursing simulation/laboratory equipment, space, supplies, and other resources.

10% - Collaborates with the nursing faculty and staff to create and maintain simulation/laboratory schedules and inventory. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree from a regionally accredited institution, four years of directly related full-time experience such as providing assistance to students in an instructional setting; and/or preparing, maintaining and delivering equipment, supplies or other related instructional materials used for laboratory activities including two years of lead work or senior level experience.

OR

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications

1. Experience working with nursing educational equipment and supplies
2. Medical coding and billing knowledge and/or experience
3. Experience working within governmental procurement process guidelines
4. Experience maintaining and purchasing perishable and non-perishable nursing lab supplies
5. Supervisory experience and personnel scheduling
6. Experience operating and maintaining high fidelity human patient simulation equipment
7. Strong computer program operations and software updating experience
8. One year of full-time, relevant MCCCD experience within the previous two years

**** Experience within other community college systems or higher education institutions is valued and may be considered in addition to MCCCD experience. External candidates are encouraged to apply.

Special Working Conditions

Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, lifting, fingering, grasping,
feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force
frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move
objects including the human body.

Working Conditions: Work is performed in both the field and in an indoor office environment
with moderate exposure to hazardous materials (such as chemicals, blood or other body fluids);
and moderate exposure to intense noise.
