Bigger, Better, Broadwind! How big is the project and how thick is the steel? We build things most companies can't even move!

Broadwind Heavy Fabrications has an opening in Abilene, TX for a Welder I in our Clip and Clean Depsrtment. This is a direct hire position for a quality welder on our Cshift which is 6 am to 6 pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This shift also comes with a $4.50/hr shift differential. This is steady work with good overtime and even better benefits including insurance, paid vacation and paid holidays. Keep reading for more!

Themore you understand of the points below, the better fit you are for this opportunity: * Weld qualification tests are done on 1-inch material. Welders must be comfortable laying down a quality weld on material that is minimally 1 inch. * Have you consistently run beads 18 inches or more? A competent welder should have no problem running a quality bead of at least 2 feet. * Comfortable with multi-pass welding. Our projects call for welds larger than we can achieve in a single pass, so welders must "stack" them to achieve proper sizes. * Have you worked on large scale projects requiring you to weld at any angle? Have you consistently laid quality, stacked beads at skewed angles? An experienced welder can weld in flat, horizontal and vertical positions. Ability to weld overhead would be a bonus. * What is your experience with weld wire? We use Solid (or hard) and out of position Flux Core. FCAW and GMAW would be required. * Are you experienced in following very specific work instruction and completing the task, meeting strict quality standards as laid out by the customer? * You know how to "fit" and understand how weld sequence affects the outcome. * How well can you read blueprints and understand reference materials? * Are you familiar with weld gauges and what kind? * Do you have an understanding of how heat impacts steel properties? We have to control the pre-heat and inter pass temperatures which can significantly impact the mechanical properties of the steel.

* OR.... Have you done Sub-arc welding? Sound interesting? Keep reading!

Do you have what it takes? Here are the official qualifications... * High school diploma or GED required * 3+ years of current and directly related welding experience, which could be Sub-arc * Overhead crane after certification (can be completed after hire) * Candidate must be able to pass a Jaeger J2 vision test * Must be able to complete and pass weld qualification test(s) * Able to read and follow all weld work instructions and consistently weld within parameters * Ability to weld with up to 1/16 weld wire * Ability to use air arc process * Able to meet the physical demands of this welding work - stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, walking and standing * We complete drug screening prior to hire and conduct periodic random drug tests. * We have expectations around attendance, tardiness and quality of work.

If you have all the qualifications and pass all the tests you will receive a $1,000 sign on bonus.
