SUMMARY

This position assists the Corporate Controller in implementing and managing various accounting assignments related to month-end close and reporting cycle, process improvements, analyze financial information, prepare financial reports and maintain accurate financial records (including appropriate subsidiary ledgers) in accordance with principles generally accepted in the United States of America (GAAP), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), regulatory and internal control over financial reporting ("ICFR") guidelines for the Bank. The Accounting Manager should be knowledgeable of all banking and general accounting functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complies with and stays abreast of all policies and procedures, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements as well as federal and state laws applicable to the job.
  • Maintains the Bank's financial records and reports, reflecting changes in the general ledger, in accordance with company policies and procedures to ensure accuracy, completeness and timely accounting records. This includes reviewing and analyzing general ledger accounts to ensure accurate reporting of the financial activity of the bank.
  • Reviews daily and monthly record journal entries and general ledger accounting reconciliations
  • Oversee general ledger maintenance, integration and interface with core and other applicable systems that impacts the general ledger.
  • Plays a lead role on core system conversion which includes but not limited to General Ledger, Fixed Assets, Leases, Prepaid and other applications and integrations resulting from mergers and acquisition.
  • Ensures integrity and accuracy of accounting systems.
  • Management of timely month-end close process, trend analysis and preparation of monthly and consolidated financial statements and other internal reports.
  • Management of accounting processes which includes but not limited to general accounting functions, and specific accounting for loans, investments securities, fixed assets, other investments, leases, prepaid and accrual, deposit, borrowings and equity as assigned.
  • Review and assist with identifying intercompany relationships and transactions between Bank and Bank Holding Company and ensure proper consolidation and elimination.
  • Assists in the ongoing monitoring and interpretation of new GAAP, Regulatory pronouncements, and comply with the Bank's financial controls.
  • Maintains ongoing collaboration with other departments to obtain and review schedules for the preparation of external filings, and to ensure transactions are captured appropriately in the financial statements.
  • Review various banking regulatory report schedules, including the Call report and FR-Y reports, earnings release schedules and SEC 10Q and 10K schedules on a quarterly basis, as needed.
  • Performs analysis of various accounting activities and financial statements as needed.
  • Participate in tax reporting, support and schedule preparation and review for tax filing, audit and remittance, as needed.
  • Assists with the collection of audit related materials as required by external and internal auditors.
  • Identifies process improvement opportunities and assists with developing and maintaining procedures and documentation for the Finance department.
  • Assists with developing other ad-hoc pro forma reports.
  • Provides support on various special projects.
  • Cross-train on other positions in the Accounting and Financial Reporting department.
  • Promptly reports any identified material errors or suspicious activity to the Corporate Controller and Chief Financial Officer.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Provide, present and promote The Citizens Experience to all external and internal customers.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Company policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in accounting or finance from four-year College or university; or a minimum of five (5) years of financial management position and/or 5-10 years of comparable accounting/finance experience in the financial services industry performing complex accounting processes and procedures (Banking preferred).

A graduate degree is a plus.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

COMPUTER & SOFTWARE SKILLS

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and experience with Accounting Systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel is preferable.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • A Certified Public Accountant (C.P.A) License is a plus

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

  • Understanding and knowledge of GAAP accounting concepts, SEC requirements, and SOX compliance documentation.
  • This position requires strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and/or project accurately within the same time period.
  • Strong analytical abilities.

Salary Range:$104,061.00 To $150,888.00 Annually
