Accredited by AACSB International, the Belk College of Business at UNC Charlotte offers outstanding business education programs in a variety of disciplines. The College enrolls more than 5,000 students in undergraduate and graduate programs in Accounting, Business Analytics, Economics, Finance, International Business, Management, MIS, Marketing, and Operations. The College employs more than 100 full-time faculty members and 50 permanent staff. The Belk College of Business Dean's Office provides leadership and management of the College.
Primary Purpose of Position
The Director of Finance manages a variety of tasks and processes for the Finance & Personnel Team. This position has direct oversight of and processes relating to the College's General (state) operating funds. Additionally, the Director assists the Assistant Dean of Finance and Personnel in the annual budget process, funds reconciliation processes, and helps develop the multi-year budget model. This position will also have some oversight for financial transaction processes, including 49er Mart, ESDPR, and travel. As part of this oversight role, the Director will serve as the Supervisor for three Business Service Coordinator positions.
Summary of Position Responsibilities

  • Provides College-level management of external grant, research, and contract funding for the Belk College of Business.
  • Collaborates with the Office of Research Services to provide direct support for the College's principal investigators in post-award management
  • Serves as the functional manager for the Finance and Personnel Team's Business Services Coordinators, including primary oversight for training and time management, as well as collaboration with the Assistant Dean on performance evaluations.
  • Provides oversight for College-level travel processing and fund assignment as part of the management role.
  • Provides support to the Assistant Dean for management of the College's faculty recruitment and hiring process.

Minimum Education/Experience
Master's or Bachelor's with 2 years of relevant experience; or equivalent education/experience.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Master's Degree is in Business, Accounting, or a related field
  • At least two (2) years of Financial Experience within Higher Education
  • At least two (2) years of Supervisory Experience
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
