Position: Supervisor

Position Summary: The Supervisor of Plant Engineering is responsible for the ongoing, effective operation of the Preventive and Corrective Maintenance services and for their ongoing assessment and improvement activities. Such responsibilities encompass not only the internal functioning of the services, but also the integration of these services into the overall functioning of Northwest Texas Healthcare System. Assess and maintain compliance with the Life Safety Code and manage the Statement of Conditions (SOC) when addressing survey related deficiencies. The Supervisor of Plant Engineering supports an organizational culture for Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence Standards to all customer groups.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Possess the effectiveness to lead and supervise the daily performance of engineering staff.
  • Perform Preventive Maintenance and urgent, corrective and routine repairs in electrical and plumbing systems.
  • Assist Engineering Director in matters of performance reviews and discipline.
  • Supervisor shall assist the Engineering manager in maintaining an effective organization, administering monetary controls, safety and effective management, planning, training, and personnel in their general and specific duties.
  • Develops and manages a plan for maintaining all new and existing utility equipment and fire systems.
  • Coordinates preventive maintenance activities.
  • Develops and manages a plan for providing around-the-clock technical support for the organizations' utility systems and facilities.
  • Utilizes appropriate leadership skills in supervising, delegating, and evaluating.
  • Demonstrates communication skills to facilitate effective intra-department and inter-department collaboration.
  • Defines self-learning needs and takes initiative to identify areas for potential growth. Applies management knowledge principles in order to comply with regulatory agencies and with federal, state and hospital standards.
  • Participates in and supports a process to measure, assess, and improve performance of services.

Qualifications

Education, Training, Experience and Licenses/Registrations Required:

  • Associates Degree in an appropriate field preferred or eight years experience in Maintenance/Plant Ops or related field, demonstrating increased skills and responsibility.
  • Four plus year's hospital maintenance or Related work experience preferred, familiar with hospital operations, Joint Commission, Regulatory

Physical and Sensory Requirements:

  • Ability to read and write in English.
  • Ability to understand and assist in solving maintenance requirements.
  • Ability to evaluate and interpret information and make independent decisions.
  • Ability to understand and instruct personnel concerning training and education.
  • Ability to communicate with patients, families, staff, physicians, support agencies, vendors, and others.
  • Ability to read/understand blueprints.
  • Ability to understand and interpret financial information.
