Department's Website: The Career Coach provides comprehensive college and career readiness services to students at a local school district. The position focuses on early outreach, career exploration, postsecondary planning, and student support to ensure successful transitions from secondary education to postsecondary education, training, or the workforce. 25% College and Career Readiness Provide early outreach to students regarding the importance of postsecondary education and skills training. Deliver accurate information on how to prepare for, apply to, and pay for postsecondary education. Provide information on careers, career pathways, and required education or training. Offer a continuum of career guidance to support transitions from middle school to high school, postsecondary education or training, and ultimately the workforce. 25% Career Exploration & Planning Administer interest inventories and skills assessments to support informed career decision-making. Facilitate the development of individual career plans and career portfolios. Coordinate career awareness activities such as job shadowing, mentoring, internships, work-based learning and visits to business and industry. 25% Student Support & Academic Enrichment Connect low-income students to support services that ease the transition to postsecondary education. Connect educationally disadvantaged students to bridge programs that strengthen academic skills while preparing them for career advancement and postsecondary education. Link students to academic enrichment opportunities such as tutoring, study groups, and study skills workshops. Connect high school students to early college programs, Advanced Placement classes, and academic and career and technical education (CTE) and concurrent-credit enrollment. Offer programs and services that will influence and improve high school and community college students' persistence and graduation rates 15% Reporting & Program Support Complete required reporting related to student interactions, contacts, and progression. Perform other duties as assigned that support the mission and goals of the Division of Career and Technical Education Career Coach Program and the institutions you serve, within grant parameters. 10% Postsecondary Enrollment & Testing Support Assist students with enrollment in postsecondary education or training programs. Support students in completing college applications, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the Arkansas SAMS application, and related requirements. Facilitate or support collegiate placement testing, including the ACT and Accuplacer. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge Principles and practices of secondary and post-secondary education including but not limited to graduation requirements, college recruitment and student services, financial aid, and college admissions processes. Federal, state, and local policies and regulations affecting higher education (e.g., FERPA, ADA/Section 504, Title IV). Use of institutional research, data analysis, and performance metrics for planning and evaluation. Workforce development, transfer pathways, dual enrollment, and community partnerships. Skills Strong communication-oral, written, and interpersonal-with diverse audiences. Conflict resolution, negotiation, and consensus building.
